CO54 Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 So, I'm almost down to a short block, once the valves and cam come out the last thing will be the water distribution tube. I've made some attempts with no luck. I don't have the cherry picker right now, so I'm curious if the boys and I can pull if off the stand and set it down? Really just looking for a rough idea on the weight. I want to get it stood on the rear end so I can get the tube filled with penetrating oil and keep trying to get it removed. Thanks in advance. Young Ed Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 Just a bare block? They are heavy but I can lift them solo. I think 2 of you would have no trouble. 1 Quote
CO54 Posted January 27, 2020 Author Report Posted January 27, 2020 Thanks. Now to pull it off, might find the scale too. LOL Quote
JBNeal Posted January 28, 2020 Report Posted January 28, 2020 A fully assembled flathead weighs in about 750#; the block alone weighs about 160#... lift with the legs 1 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 28, 2020 Report Posted January 28, 2020 750 lbs seems kinda high for a fully assembled 23" engine.. 565 lbs was stuck in my mind on a post as long time ago. 1 Quote
JBNeal Posted January 28, 2020 Report Posted January 28, 2020 Well yeah 565 I can toss that around like a football... The boat anchor I took across the scales a few months ago may have had some water in it, I had trouble getting it on the trailer tho... 1 Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted January 28, 2020 Report Posted January 28, 2020 Matt Wilson posted a 230 bare block weight. 150 lbs. A 413,426,440 RB series complete engine c/o Hughes Engines.... 670lbs 1 1 Quote
CO54 Posted February 3, 2020 Author Report Posted February 3, 2020 I can concur with 150# to 160# weight. Got the bare block pulled from the engine stand yesterday with help from the wifey. I can move it around when it's standing up relatively easily on my own. 1 Quote
