When you go under the vehicle to add oil where is the oiliest, dirtiest, spot on the transmission?

The most likely spots for a leak would be the rear output shaft seal, the speedo drive seal, or at the front mounting surface to the bell housing (if the gasket is missing). It could also be leaking out of the selector shafts for shifting.

That's like telling a doctor you have a headache and asking him what's the cause. Hard to diagnose without seeing what's going on, cleaning the tranny and watching for the leak. Not trying to sound like an a hole but it can be from anywhere. Good luck, hope you find it.

Recommend cleaning under there with a stiff brush and varsol. Then monitor the level and wet area. Couple potential spots as mentioned above.

I have the same issue with my original 3spd and the overdrive. Can't imagine anything that would cause them both to be leakers other than bad luck. I have noticed mine seems to do the majority of the leaking after driving. So maybe the fluid can leak out when its hot and a little thinner?

After replacing the bell housing gasket and scrubbing it many times, I have decided that my tranny is NOT leaking... it just requires external lubrication.

Old cars and old automotive technology... mean you will always have some drive train  leakage. Shouldn't be a 2" puddle every time you park though.

Look at it as rust prevention.?
