windsor8 Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Anyone have a suggestion on how to remove this 76 year old rubber that has baked on the deck lid of my 41 Chrysler??? Quote
casper50 Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Scraper working from the inside outward. Short sharp taps should chip it off. If it doesn't work or you are real worried about the paint try a heat gun until soft. Quote
knuckleharley Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Big flat wood chisel and a hammer. Quote
desoto1939 Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Use a plastic putty knife and as suggested above use a heat gun or possibly a hair dryer to heat up the old rubber and soften it then it should scrape off. Do not use a metal putty knife becasue it will scratch the paint. rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
greg g Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 Spray some penetrating oil on it for a couple days. Pb blaster WD 40 put a couple layers of paper towels over it and respray ASD necessary to keep it wet for a couple days then use a razor scraper and a heat gun. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 11, 2017 Report Posted July 11, 2017 you can also try to soften it with a wet rag laid on top..microwave will heat a towel very nicely...this prevent you from trying to wring out a boiling hot towel Quote
