D24 BusCpe meets S-11 'burb

I had a visit today from 49D-24BusCpe, who lives maybe four miles from me, northwest of Motown.  He brought his 49 1st Series Bus Coupe, a California car, to meet my 47 DeSoto Suburban.  Both cars proudly represented the Mopar world.  Photos:

I love the 42-early 49 business coupes (have a 42),but there is something about that roof rack, the visor and the paint job on your DeSoto that really pulls me in. Especially the roof rack. Remove that and it would be an entirely different car visually. Was it a factory option,or just something that got put on commercial vehicles like taxi's?

The roof rack was standard with the Suburbans.  Part of the haul-em-to-the-hotel equipment.

Both cars are truly beautiful, but there is always something "special" about DeSoto's to me.  Especially the Suburbans.
