Captain Neon Posted May 6, 2016 Report Posted May 6, 2016 I got my '46 more door out last Wednesday, and changed oil Saturday after work. I've had her out 3x this week, but looking like rain for a week starting tonight. She could use a wash, but presentable right now. My three year old loves to go for rides with me. If it would stay above 50F every night, I could start planting tomatoes. I'm still bringing the plants inside most nights after being outside in the sun and wind all day. Quote

Tomatoes in your area will do well even if planted by June1st, Certainly you might get away with May15th too. Up here we usually plant tomatoes around May 22-24. But to be honest years I have planted first week in June, tomatoes, peppers plants all did really well.... Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 Although it snowed an inch here yesterday morning, this is an awesome spring for northern Maine. It'll be in the 70's tomorrow and Thursday, and it'll most likely snow a tad more before Memorial Day, which is the "don't plant before" date up here, vs. the Mother's Day I've been used to elsewhere. Beautiful crystal clear blue skies with a few puffy clouds this morning, refreshing breeze, just shy of 40*, sunrise at 5 - where the sun first shines on the good ole USA. Gotta love it! 1 Quote

On the way back we got on Rt 17 east for a few miles, My wife took this video while on Rt 17. We exited at the Parksville exit. This is all new construction from about six years ago now. I just wanted to share the rock cut and such Just a nice day to be out and about with my wife and the old Plymouth 2 Quote

rb1949 Posted May 13, 2016 Report Posted May 13, 2016 Bouncing up to 70-80 sure feels good, and lots of outdoor activity, including the car. Poked some tomatoes & peppers in the garden back in April, doing OK despite some cool evenings. Finally ready to transplant some tomato seedlings. Beach season is sneaking up. Can't wait, stocking up on beer. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 'Nuther inch of the white stuff here this morning. Up to 5 inches further north around Caribou. Already gone, but the silver lining - it really freshened up the budding flora, and it smells really, well, refreshing out. Turned the boiler off a week or two too early, apparently. All stocked up on everything but nice enough weather to drive the ol' D24 in. A general rule of thumb that seems to get along with the aging process - with no heat in the car, I don't take it out when the temperature is lower than my age... Quote
