Hi All,

Just thought I'd say a quick "Hi" and introduce my ride. My name is Saul and I've been driving rusty Detroit iron since I was 18 but this is my first "proper old" car. Till now the oldest I'd had was 1957 and I can certainly feel those 15 years difference. Even though I'd been thinking of getting a 40's car for a while I ended up buying my 42 a little by accident. A cheeky bid in the last six seconds of an auction, sight unseen and just one picture and I found myself the owner of this 1942 Chrysler Royal. She turned out to be be a very original and unmolested car, everything works but I'm not crazy about the fluid drive/3 speed which I'm thinking of ditching in favour of a 700R4. She's got 85000 miles on the clock and is a Canadian built car. I have no history of the car but I suspect she came from Saskatchewan in Canada. She is my daily driver and I don't own another car, below are a few pictures including the day we got her out of storage. My last car was a 57 Chevy (yeah, yeah I know such a cliche but there is a good story behind that and a 5000km drive across Europe from Turkey but this is not the forum for that adventure) and that was pretty easy to live with, so I was pretty happy to find this forum.

Hi Pete, I'm in Portsmouth and funnily enough I brought the car home from Maidstone!

You seem to be missing a bunch of trim pieces on the rear fenders.

Yeah...... I'm not sure if I'm missing them or this being a Royal and the lowest trim level it did not have them....

I'd suggest you hook up with John and Traci, from Portsmouth, who own a '47 Business Coupe.

PM me your email address and I'll send an introduction.

Well there are a few anomalies there, the hood side moulding is longer than mine, also there is a discrepancy with the topmost front trim piece. It isn't as long as Bob's car. Could be because my car was built in Canada perhaps? I will look closer tomorrow if I get a chance at the rear fenders to see if there is any evidence of previous trim. There is always the possibility that Bob's car had some of its trim "upgraded" over the years.
