pflaming Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 My son has a very nice early 54 Chevy Pickup. He wants to put more comfortable seats in it. Has anyone worked with the 48-54 chevy seats? Quote

greg g Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Pickups are pretty narrow kinda like 30's coupes and roadsters. I don't know what look of feel he is going for, but there is a fellow here who has installed the rear seats from a Saab or Volvo convertible. They are a bit rounded on the upper corners and fit right into the curve of the cab. Don't know what he did for the base but the brown leather sure looks good in there. I would take the tape measure and head to the pick and pull and check out sebrings, mustangs, or any of the compact mid size verts out there. Most are simulated buckets with a drop down armrest, even foldeing rear sections. Quote
Dave72dt Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 check the middle or rear seats from minivans if you want a full width seat, most will fold down if needed for behind the seat access. Buckets are nice too and can be adapted to fit from almost anything. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 this was brought up on chat and the call to cap or remove the platform may be an issue in seat selection..I have a set of buckets from a Doge Daytona (FWD) sitting in the cab of one old truck here..they look spiffy enough...cannot say if they will stay there..mostly the cab right now is making a nice storage area for the seats..like most all things that are being modified...personal like/taste style function and such come into play...as with the mechanical aspects of seat width, heigh,t base configuration or bench verse bucket...one can best make this call after walking through the local wrecker and measuring what is available...90% of the time things get modified only by WHAT IS ON HAND with no call to many other considerations..if you really find an item you like..you will find a way to make it happen..if not...then that is on your shoulders...
