Jeff Balazs Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Hey there you go. If you are down this way stop in......pretty sure I have an extra set rear mounts. Jeff Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted February 2, 2015 Author Report Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) Hey Martin thanks for that. That's going to make it super easy now. ha! Awesome Jeff. I'll definitely have to take you up on that. Maybe this Friday? Edited February 2, 2015 by 1TonDirtyMopar Quote
MartinsB3B Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Good luck to you! My brake handle Will have to be drilled instead of driving the pin out. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Mike; Friday will be fine. I will see what else I can scrounge up for your project. Jeff Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted February 4, 2015 Author Report Posted February 4, 2015 Awesome Jeff. I'll message you Thursday to get the address. Has anyone ever dealt with Vintage Auto Parts for their clutch and pressure plate needs? I see that they have what I would need to get the truck up and running and for a decent price as well. $95 plus $10 core for an 11" pressure plate and probably about $85 for a clutch disk with a core. They're out of Denver, CO. I bet shipping is going to be a pain. I'd love to deal locally instead of having to ship but I'll do it if need be. Also found a cool place up north that will convert a generator into a 12v alternator using the original generator case. Gener-nator.com is the site. Seems pretty cool but couldn't find any pricing on the site. Maybe i'm just blind. Quote
MartinsB3B Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Nashville clutch supply I believe is the name, they'll rebuild it all for you. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Tennessee Clutch is the place to go.......great prices and service. Gener nators are very pricey. Around $300 as I recall. Why not just get an single wire alternator? I have a 6V single wire alternator on my truck and it couldn't be nicer. Jeff Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted February 4, 2015 Author Report Posted February 4, 2015 Got it. I'll give them a shout this week. Ouch. Okay maybe I won't go there. Just wanted to keep it looking as original as possible under the hood. Quote
B1B Keven Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Generator help? http://www.thomasnet.com/southern-california/generator-repair-rebuilding-34446609-1.html Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Mike; Yes ... ...I got over that pretty quick though when I started getting pricing. I have a 6 volt system with an alternator from Quality Power. I can't say enough good about how well it works. Jeff btw....I have a nice little pile of stuff for you. See you Friday Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted February 9, 2015 Author Report Posted February 9, 2015 Big shout out to Jeff for hooking me up with some parts and extra goodies. His truck looks waaaay better in person than the pictures show. Definitely a great looking truck Jeff. 1 Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Glad to have met you Mike. You are very welcome. Cant wait to hear you got one running. Jeff. Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted March 9, 2015 Author Report Posted March 9, 2015 Not much to update. Finally got the clutch, pressure pllate, and e-brake lining packaged up and getting it sent out to Tennesse clutch. Spoke with Randall out there and he's a really cool cat. Was told turn around would be about a week so hopefully next weekend i'll be able to put the motor and transmission together and work on getting the truck running. Also decided to tear my Model 51 heater apart. Took the 6v motor out and currently looking for a 12v motor. Does anyone know how to remove the fan shroud from the rest of the box? Anyone have blast cabinet to clean these parts up? I'll put some pictures up in a few. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 I found and installed this 12 volt fan motor. Works well. 2 Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted March 9, 2015 Author Report Posted March 9, 2015 Thanks Don! I think that's the same one I found a long time ago but forgot about. Did you have any issues installing that? Here's a pic of the heater. Going to find a radiator shop to test the core out and make sure it's not leaking. Sorry that it's so dark. I'll snap some better ones tonight. Quote
RodFru2u Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 Mike, Looks like you are making GREAT progress. Hope to see you on the road and in the wind soon. Rod Quote
1TonDirtyMopar Posted March 10, 2015 Author Report Posted March 10, 2015 Thanks Rod. Wish I could go faster. I got the clutch and pressure plate out to Randall at Tennesse Clutch so thats one step closer to getting the motor back in the truck.Does anyone have a lead or another possible solution for the flywheel to crank bolts? Or could I get away with some grade 8 bolts? Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 Those are special bolts and a standard grade 8 will not work. Put a parts wanted notice in the classified section of this webpage and someone may have them. 1 Quote
Brent B3B Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 Are these bolts the same in fluid drive and regular standard transmissions? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 The Fluid Drive unit has studs on the mounting flange and uses nuts on the back side of the crank flange. No bolts on FD except what attaches the clutch to the driven plate. Quote

Thanks Merle, you saved me some work! i thought these might have been pressed in from the inside and you could reverse them for Mikes application. sorry Mike, i tried Quote
