BigDaddyO Posted September 27, 2014 Author Report Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) There was also a 1941 Plymouth Pickup there but it got too dark for good pictures. It was an old custom done about 20 years ago. Had rectangular, dual, over and under headlights, really crappy tail lights (I think they were Vega) mounted about a foot inboard of each side on the tailgate, couple 3" chop and a 392 hemi stuffed in it. The hemi and the chop was cool but the lights made me more than a little sick . Edited September 27, 2014 by BigDaddyO Quote
BigDaddyO Posted September 27, 2014 Author Report Posted September 27, 2014 Not sure they improved it. No, I dont think so either. But the owner wasn't ashamed to drive it there. Quote

I don't think it ever was a Dodge. I fear she was a DeSoto before captured by the MadMetalButcher... In her youth she looked like the one in below: Must be a madman totally lacking sense of aestetics who wasted the beautiful waterfall grille to replace it with a botox smile... BigDaddyO Posted September 27, 2014 Author Report Posted September 27, 2014 I believe it was just a lowly Plymouth. Quote

Uncle-Pekka Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 I believe it was just a lowly Plymouth. Look at the hood lines of the red custom, also the front fenders and the way head light are mount - It's a S11. Cruel but true. 1 Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) I see.......the fenders go back onto the door. Yep, must be DeSoto. That's a complete 1953 Chevy grille. It actually looks and fits in better than many grilles guys change to. That hood ornament looks like a rear fender ornament from a 54 Plymouth Belvedere. Personally........I would have preferred he used all four '57 Plymouth cone style wheel covers, like on the back, rather than the Moon racing discs. But.......the owner is Da Man, no matter whether we likee or not. He does have genuine cowl mount swan neck mirrors.......... Edited September 27, 2014 by BobT-47P15 Quote
T120 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Hard to say what condition the car was in when the fellow began his project...I chuckled reading the comments. Thanks for posting the photos. Quote
51cambridge Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Well i judge on the qualty of there work, and that part looks good. Not something id want. Im glad the builder of mine didnt spoil it.He just went crazy with the slant 6 . Quote
Oldguy48 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 That car is not to my liking, but it looks like whoever "transformed" it, was pretty good at bodywork. I don't know....some cars look OK after they have been "customized", but by and large, the old Mopars look perfect in their original state. I think Mother Mopar's body designers were top notch. Oldguy48 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Then I guess that phrase applies rather well to the Plymouths, doesn't it? Quote
casper50 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 The only thing that I really like about it is the welded on rear fenders. The lines flow so well. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 shaved cars of this magnitude look so out of proportion as there is nothing to break up the lines and it is just one big flowing blob and the darker colors in my opinion tend to make the blob even less appealing...am hoping my 41 bz coupe does not fall into the blob zone..number of shave items on it as well.. Cruel but true. By jingies, yer right! I was so engrossed out by the grill I never noticed the fenders, just the profile. Plus I never really imagined anybody would do that to a DeSoto. And the dash was/is Plymouth... Edited September 27, 2014 by BigDaddyO Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Usually it is a Desoto grill cannibalized and morphed into something besides a Desoto. Quote
