Greg F Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Guys, I purchased this temp gauge that I was told was for a Plymouth. Once I bought it I realized the temp pointer comes from the bottom. The gauge did not fit as the temp gauge for a Plymouth comes from the top. If so is this temp gauge for a Dodge or some other model? Thank goodness I found the right gauge, so I am planning on selling this one, just want to give the correct description. Greg Quote
Young Ed Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 I would say desoto. I used a Chrysler gauge to fix my p15 and they were both top needle. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 It looks to me that the face plate is on upside down. The angle of the hash marks don't match up with the angle of the needle. Is that normal on the car gauges? Quote
48ply1stcar Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 I think Merle got that one right, it looks like the face plate was put on wrong. If that temp gauge works you have a real gold mine there. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Good catch Merle I bet it is just put together wrong. The one on the right is my P15 gauge Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Just bend those small tabs that are holding the faceplate with a pocket knife and turn it around . Carefully . When you are ready to re-attach the face plate you can bend the tabs back where they should be by pushing against the tabs on a sharp , square corner of a bench . Carefully . Quote
nonstop Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) Agreed it looks to be put on upside down - but if you turn the face plate the correct way, won't it read at 212 or are you able to reset the needle? Edited September 12, 2014 by nonstop Quote
soth122003 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 If the needle is moving freely, the temp supplied to the gage from the sensor should set it right. Joe Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Mine is like Ed's..........needle at the top and matches the slant of the hash marks............ Quote
ChrisRice Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) Does it have a part number on it anywhere? Edited September 12, 2014 by ChrisRice Quote
