Merle Coggins Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 ... those look like knock plug covers,... That's what I was thinking. Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 28, 2014 Author Report Posted September 28, 2014 Shot this color on last night, turned out well..... Quote
pflaming Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Why is the small wooden block and bolt in the center of the bed? That is very, very nice. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 That is looking real nice. I bet you feel pretty happy with the results. Jeff 1 Quote
cavisco1 Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Looks really nice. You do good work. I think those wheels would look nice painted black with some baby moon hubcaps. Edited September 29, 2014 by cavisco1 Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 That is looking real nice. I bet you feel pretty happy with the results. Jeff Thanx jeff, yes am happy for the most part. I am my own worst critic, I feel it could be much better, but at what time and expense. I did all the work, but this truck was beat. Looks really nice. You do good work. I think those wheels would look nice painted black with some baby moon hubcaps. Thanx, it looks much better in pics and from 20 feet away. It is a very low budget amateur job. The box I stripped and sanded, shot on 4 coats of alkyd primer, allowed a short cure time 2-3 days, quick sand with 320 on the outside of the box and shot on 2 coast of very cheap custom tinted modified alkyd enamel, cut with straight xylene and generic wet look acrylic enamel hardener...very el cheapo, very amateur quality work, but it is cleaned up and 1 color.... Jeff Balazs Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Well for what it is worth I think if it was too perfect it would look unnatural. It is a after all a 60 year old truck and should show some signs of use. If it had perfect paint and body work you would be hesitant to use it......and that defeats the real purpose of a truck. 55 Fargo Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 ole Blue at dawns early lights, cool prairie morning, darn near frost. Quote
RobertKB Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Fred, looking good. Even better when you have the rear fenders on. We have avoided frost so far with only one close time a couple of weeks ago. Wish it would never come but I do know what part of the world we live in! 1 Quote
NiftyFifty Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Number 3 picture makes the box look darker then the cab, is that the case or just the light? Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 Number 3 picture makes the box look darker then the cab, is that the case or just the light? just the lighting and the cab is dusty....the paint is a 100% match, home hardware paint mixer.......LOL the new paint is fresh and slightly shinier..... Larry Leibhart Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Looks nice. I know I am slow, but still wondering like PP what the small wooden block in the box is for. Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 30, 2014 Author Report Posted September 30, 2014 At the time I replaced the wood floor with 3/4 inch Fir Ply, did need to make that centre strip into 1, thuse the little piece of oak. I need to find another strip and paint to match. The strips were quite beat up, but sanded them and painted.... The truck is just a "3 dressed up as a 9"......LOL Quote
48Dodger Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 I like it! Great job Fred. 48D Quote
