scotty t Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) have you guys seen these reproduction p15 lights from speedway motors? i just got mine for the business coupe. the quality is real nice. it's a chrome plated casting just the the real ones. but it has a plastic lense and an LED light. my plan is to use the glass lense and (hopefully) a regular bulb. the only issue is they use one casting for the different body styles and use a molded plastic gasket for the various curves. it does look nice though. they also make tail lights. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Technostalgia-6061-1946-48-Plymouth-Business-Coupe-Brake-Light,14050.html the sedan brake light is much cheaper than the coupe. greg g Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 I guess they are assuming you already have their running lights installed. As the discription of adding a third brake light doesn't jibe with the stock set up. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 these are very nicely made and you can get the entire set of three rear lights for less than getting the center section rechromed....(to show quality, anyone can chrome a pitted substrate) Quote
scotty t Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 My car is 12v already, I didn't think about most of them still being 6v. When I get my hands on my stock brake light I'll see is the glass lense fits and the see what I have to do to fit an incandescent bulb, the LED is a little too space age for my car!! Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 If you attempt to fit a original glass lens you will most likely destroy the new fixture. I have been running these new fixtures for several years. If you do not want to convert to the LED setup I recommend you save the two hundred bucks and have your original bezel re-chromed. Quote
scotty t Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Well........ I might have to change my plan!!!! Quote
fstfish66 Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 that company makes a great product,,i had them make me a set up custom for my 66 barracuda,,they are the britest LEDs ive seen,,so far,,,usually those premade copies are a sealed unit,,not serviceable,,,nice and brite and as good looking as the originals,,, Quote
steveplym Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 I agree these are super bright and will last a long time. I need to get a set for my Plymouth. Got a set of led '50 pontiac tail lamps on the Dodge and they are very bright. Better to be safe than sorry these days with the way people drive. 1 Quote
scotty t Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 well the glass lense fits the new light nicely, the thing i don't like about it is it's too thick. it is at least 1/2" thicker the the original. there is more curve to it and they make up for that with a gasket that is thicker in the middle. i'd like to see how it fits on a sedan. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 I believe its thicker like that so it will fit both the sedan and coupe. Quote
scotty t Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 i'll bet i fits the sedan better! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 I have a set of the Technostalgia tail lights, but not the center brake light.......in six volt..........but have not installed them yet. They have stopped making the 6V model due to lack of sales volume. I thought about trying to use original lenses with their frames, etc.....but have decided that won't really work. So will simply use the lights as they came. Quote
