I see lots of different color combos for engine colors.

I get 30% off all things I buy at Autozone this weekend so thinking,,engine paint, engine compartment paint,,,brake lines and some connectors.

I sorta like the light baby blue like Don has on his,,my outside car color is that standard darker blue.  They dont have any light blue like that or they are out of stock,

Other possible color would be silver.  Think orange way out of place.  Other colors?

Black for the compartment,,,gloss, semi, or flat???

3/16 brake lines seem so small would 1/4" be okay?? Adverse braking?

I think it's not a positive result if you change the size of the brakes lines away from the stock size. Engine color: I prefer the stock silver with the black accents. I left mine cast iron brown and shot six coats of clear on it.

There is a long thread on forum member's engines. Well worth looking at.

Anything besides the factory aluminum paint is a good choice. I'm partial to Chrysler Industrial Red with semi-gloss black and cast alloy accent pieces. Which is what my L6s were being done up in before I decided this week to scrap them and go 318/727/8.75 with 3.55 rear gears. Yep, gutting my D100 to make the PH usable.

you going to cut and scrap a Dodge truck to retro fit to a Dodge truck..the same Dodge you had discussed here for poor running and lousy fuel mileage?  one would think you could sell that truck and invest in a more economy/power minded upgrade for the PH..at least that would be my avenue of approach even over and above the fact "I just happen to have this on hand"  and will this make you like the PH more?  cannot answer myself but I think the trouble would carry forward or in the is case..backwards

Yep, same heap. Got the 69 running fine, but now you open the door and the cab sags. The only selling of that body will be to the shred yard, both doors, both rockers and the entire floor pan are junk. Even the bed end caps rotted off.

Use what I have. A 318/727 in a PH will get double what is does in the wheeled cinder block known as a Sweptline. Especially since my PH is a lowrider... even less drag. Even with a V8 swap, it isn't going to be seeing much more than cruise in use. At most. And only on the weekends, my work schedule has me on the job during the weeknight cruise ins.

well...at least it appears you are not looking for a mass improvement, nothing wrong with using what you have if what you have is over the top in body rust and taking it off the road is actually for public safety...lol   good luck with the project..if you were to locate a 88-93 A500 or A518 with that 3.55..you could expect improved mileage and overall enjoyment of the vehicle

Thanks for all the feedback.  Lots to see in all those pics which is great.I am torn between Dons blue and the copper metalic I saw some place.

My question is how many cans of whatever does it take to paint a engine, bell housing and tranny???

Depends on your prep work. Rough cast or smoothed out? Primed or bare metal? How deep do you want the color?

This little bitty toy engine and 2 brake drums used one can of Duplicolor semi-gloss high heat black. Without primer...

It did, and thanks. Bought it brand new in Feb 1998, safety switches started failing in March or April 1998. Stepson laid it over in 2005, holed the stock tank, twisted the stock rear fender. So... decided to retro it out. And yes, that is a functional front drum. Off a late 60s or early 70s Titan, with a twin leading shoe brake plate, most likely off a Black Bomber (Honda CB450 with torsion bar valve adjusters).

What can I say other than, stock sucks and I'm a bit odd...
