_shel_ny Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Put J Edgar out by the road Sunday afternoon with a cardboard for sale sign. Left it out there about 6 hours and put it back in the garage as it was calling for rain Sun. night/Monday. One guy stopped and looked at the car. Took my phone #. Oh, a local kid wandered around it while picking up some free scrap lumber in my yard, but not a prospective buyer. Monday a different guy stopped by. Car was in the garage. He had seen it before, and was very interested. I started it, and backed it out. A few questions, and he asked me how much deposit I would need to hold it for him. Did not even go for a ride. Sold. Well tentatively. He was headed out of state. His nearby relatives will bring the balance by this week. Car sold so quick that I did not even have time to change my mind about selling it Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Wow...J. Edgar is gone? are you looking to replace this car with yet another or just trimming the herd..congrats and my sympathy at the same time... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Someone obviously recognized a good old car when he saw it........ So....what's next? Quote
JerseyHarold Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Shel, Best of luck with the sale. You.ve made a lot of good contributions here over the years. You're not planning to desert the forum, are you? Quote
_shel_ny Posted September 18, 2013 Author Report Posted September 18, 2013 Put the car out for what I felt was a reasonable price based on condition. Probably should hove asked 25 to 50% more. I guess I would feel better if the guy tried to beat me down a bit. I believe we both got a fair deal. That is the only old car that I have, and no plans to replace it. Put about 70 miles on this year. About 100 last year. About 5000 in the years that I have owned it. Time for someone that will use it, and enjoy it. i will try to steer to new owner toward the p15-d24 site. Quote
busycoupe Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 I'm sorry to hear that you sold J Edgar. I enjoyed the pic you posted and got lots of good advice from your posts. I guess that there will be one less business coupe on the forum. Best of luck, Dave Quote

_shel_ny Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Do you know where his new home will be??? Hope it going to a good place. Eventually headed to Mass.. Once paid for it will go wait in Old Forge until he is ready to get it home. The buyer intends to have some body work/paint done, and plans to trailer his vintage motor cycle behind it. I am not sure if he is going to register/insure and drive it home, or haul it. Quote
greg g Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Wonder if it might end up any where near Mark D and Ruby? Edited September 19, 2013 by greg g Quote
_shel_ny Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Wonder if it might end up any where near Mark D and Ruby? I did not get the Mass. address, but will try to remember to quiz the relatives when the bring the payment balance. Maybe he will have buyers remorse, and J will remain Quote
