I'm a Pilothouse newbie, but from what I have read, there were trucks with Fluid Drive, but they used the 3-Speed transmission, not the M-6.

The experts may correct me on this.

There were some pilot house trucks with the truck-o-matic which I believe was the m6

The Truck-o-matic began in '53, the last year of the B series trucks. I don't know if it was the same M6 or not. Don Bunn was not real clear about that in his book, but he does reference it in the section about Truck-o-matics.

Fluid Drive began in '50 and came with a 3 speed or 4 speed. (my '50 has FD and 4 speed)

Hola Class

I know the trucks used the Fluid-Drive unit with the trucks ( the manual 3 speed and the manual 4 speed's ). I just want to know if the M-6 was an possible truck option too.

I do know the two speed PowerFlite was also used in the pick up trucks when it came out.

If not offered as new, do any of you know of an pick up with the M-6 ( and Fluid-Drive )???

I had a 1953 Dodge "Truck-O-Matic" truck with the M-6, same trans and fluid coupling as a car M-6.The fluid drive units used in the trucks are the same ones as used W/ the Chrysler staight 8`s,1946-1950. Heavier duty fluid coupling!

So you are saying it was an 230 cubed six, with the 8 cylinder Fluid-Drive and eight cylinder sized clutch unit bolted in front of the M-6.

That is what I wanted to know. Thank You.

Thats correct, a 230 with the 1946-50 chrysler 323 ci. inline 8 --10" clutch disc and cover were used on the "Truck-O-Matic".
