Quite a while ago I mentioned on the forum that I was installing a slant 6/904 automatic in my P-15 club coupe. The engine is in and running. It is a tight fit but was done without cutting much sheet metal. The only cutting was done on the pan in front of the radiator when I moved it to the front of the support and the bottom of the support was cut to allow clearance for the crank pulley and belt. A new crossmember was fabbed for mounting the tranny. Due the fact that I retained the stock steering gear, there was no room to use the stock SL6 exhaust manifold. I fabricated a somewhat unique header set that would put the exhaust outlets in front of and behind the gearbox and will give me a sweet sounding dual exhaust system. I used most of the original shifting mechanism and shift rods by a little cutting and bending.

Yeah.........lots of people say they'd like to put a slant six in these old Plyms, but since it's not very easy to

do, it seldom happens.  As you said........it takes a bit of re-engineering to make it happen.  Good job.

Very nicely done.

Yeah, nice job.  Love the shift linkage.  Now that it's all together and cleaned up,....looks like it should be there.  Not rocket science.  Just a step at a time.  Amazing what you can do, eh!.

Any engine swap is a big job. Really this was much easier than a V/8 swap. The slant 6 slipped right in. It was just a matter of fabricating mounts and a crossmember. I used as many original parts as i could.  Most V/8 swaps require cutting out and fabricating inner fender panels, different front suspension, steering, and modifying the firewall.

Did you need to cut the firewall to accept the additional length?  Did you message the pass side inner fender to improve access to the Distributor?
