52dodge Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Anyone know where i can buy this gasket? Or is this something ill have to make? Also what kind of fluid and how much does my 3 speed standard take? Quote
Alshere59 Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Here is a pdf I found in a search It is supposed to print to the correct size. If you check it and find it does please let me know so I can put it in the download section with a bit of confidence. The transmission lube is discussed many times try a search and reach your own decision. The thread is here. http://mopar.pairserver.com/p15d24ph_forum/index.php?showtopic=23629 Transmission Gasket.pdf Quote
greg g Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 You want to stay away from stuff for modern hypoid gear transmissions, the additive package is not good for brass & bronze. Try your local farm supply store for regular gear oil. Quote
_shel_ny Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 You can make the gasket from the download, or you can easily make a new one from the pattern of the old one, or you can make one by laying gasket material on the trans and marking the outline and holes, or you can PM me with your mailing address and I will mail you a traced pattern. trans capacity/type should be listed in your shop manual 2 3/4 pints Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 You can make the gasket from a paper grocery bag if you can still find one these days. You can cut the gasket using a ball peen hammer. A trick that my dad taught me many years ago. Quote
Alshere59 Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 I have done the paper grocery bag many times. For some gaskets we would rub an old candle on it then pass a torch close enough to saturate the paper then cut it out. Normally used to join carb halves or any thin gasket that was exposed to oil, tranny fluid.. Have no idea if it helped but when your a young teen back then you did what you were told. It was suppose to help seal is all I was ever told. Haven't thought of that in years. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 I've seen more green plastic bags than I have seen green paper bags..I still get the choice....you want roaches..bring your groceries home in a paper brown bag from the store..they are full of eggs...so..I SAY NOT TO ROACHES Quote
52dodge Posted April 14, 2013 Author Report Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks guys ill print the scan and try it when i get the tranny back this week.As for the fluid my manual says 2 3/4 pints of SAE 10-W Does this seem correct to use 10w motor oil in a standard 3 speed? Quote
