A New Turn On The New Site

Just came on site, and for the first time my MacAfee warned me that they were blocking content from this site that is dangerous to my pc........I know you need the income from the ads GTK, but I hate not feeling secure on here anymore. I'm not clicking on any advertising...including butches as long as my security says there is unsafe content on this site.I really watch the path my cursor takes also so it doesn't enter a dubious content site...makes it feel like a mine field sometimes.

So be careful out there fellas.

I have contacted the ad services in the last 24 hours and they state all ads are checked with multiple anti-virus tools to make sure they are safe.

Understand if you are still concerned and not clicking on an ad is always the best bet if you have a concern.  I am right now trying a second ad services provider (Clicksor) in the rotation so if you get a warning and feel like reporting it try to get the both the ad content and provider (in the lower right corner) and put in a support ticket.

That said I know some of these warning are false positives. I'm still getting a security warning on the Facebook link over out of Norton security. I have registered the site with Norton, gone through their full verification, inspection and testing process, been declared 100% safe and they still throw a security warning every time. I have sent them multiple emails to their publisher support group to get the issue resolved and nothing has happened.  I suspect it is just a marketing scam to get you to buy more security software.

I just clicked on a post on the truck forum and was warned by avast that a malicious attack was just averted! I should have snipped a picture of it. But I did snip a pic of where it came from! I have nver had a attack on this forum before.

Thank you......I feel better but still not going to click....lol......Heck one of the ads is for growing indoor pot plants even tho it doesn't come right out and say it.

One additional fyi regarding the advertising. The site software runs the ads in an automatic rotation. Two sources are commercial ad services, Bidaviser and Clicksor. (You can tell the source by the ID in the lower right corner) Their reputation is on the line if they are delivery ads with any issues. The other ads are ones I have sold direct and I know are 100% safe because they are just graphic files which I directly manage. (Butch's Cool Stuff is an example) Ideally I will be able to get enough of the direct sold ads to get rid of the ad delivery services in the future but we are not yet at that point.

Look like a stealthy marketing attempt by avast to scare you to buy more product.

When you read a post it is a text data stream coming out of a database. HTML posting is disabled so something external can't be loaded to you browser. Only possible way is with an infected download of some sort that someone has posted but that has nothing to do with the ads. And I'm sure I would hear about it very quickly and I would be able to track back to an individual user.

Lastly, what post did you click on to get the warning?

Every once in a while I get a little green tab on the middle right hand of my screen that says "connect" I'm curious but not that curious..lol

It's a link back to the ad provider (Clicksor)  trying to sell ad space. I already have a support ticket in on how to get rid of it.

I got it when I clicked on austinsailers reply to Todd B's selling his truck. I get one of these notices about 2-3 times a year.

If you can reproduce the steps please get them over to me. Pop ups are turned off at the ad servers and I have tested with both osx and windows with IE 8 with the pop up blocker turned OFF and have yet to see a single pop up. I will forward those two sites to support to check out. (One was a spa and the other an ad agency)

I wish not to reproduce any scenario where my anti virus say there is danger to my system...I gave you the the two websites that my anit virus blocked at the exact time the screen popped up on my computer...P15/D24 was the only open window..the picture I had clicked to see I had seen at a prior time with no problem...I cannot explain it any better than what I have..wish I could...I can assure you that I did not click anything outside of a reply box on the forum itself..no fringe icon, boxes or subscripts of any kind..again I wish I could do more to help you but this is all I have, the IPS numbers and the actual anti virus log of threats..it listed these two as critical...thanks

Tim

PS...IE and Windows 7

I have disabled the Clicksor feed which seems to be the source for the warnings on certain ads.

If you see any more let me know via a site support ticket.
