When I initially built my truck I cleaned up the seat and recovered it with a kit from Roberts. However, I was never quite satisfied with it. The cover was always a little loose like there wasn't enough spring to fill it up. Also, the comfort level wasn't very good. I really found that out when I drove it to Dayton, OH for the WPC meet a couple of years ago. My backside wasn't very happy with me when I got there. I've been wanting to get the seat cushions redone professionally ever since. Thanks to Ed Gross (dndrodshop) who hooked me up with Joe Quade @ Guardian Upholstery. I contacted him last spring but he was backed up with work and wouldn't have been able to get to my seat until May or June. I was afraid I wouldn't have it ready for trek to Kalamazoo last summer so I put it off a little longer. (my fault for waiting too long to call him) A couple of weeks ago I called him again and he could get to it fairly quickly. I dropped it off at his shop 2 weeks ago today. He called me this past Saturday to let me know it was done. I picked it up after work today.

He was able to reuse the 'Roberts' cover, but he added about 2 inches of foam over the top of the springs. (about 1" on the seat back) With that added foam the cover now fits nice and tight and it really stiffened up the seat. I popped the cushions back on the frame when I got home. (after snowblowing the driveway) The first thing I noticed was how tight it was to slide the bottom cushion under the back cushion to get it onto the locating pins. Now when I sit on it it feels more like a seat and less like sitting on the saggy springs and seat frame like before. I think my bum will be much happier this summer when I make the trip to the Twin Cities. Maybe it'll even hold up to a trip to the left coast some day. ;)

It doesn't really look much different than before, but it's what's on the inside that really matters.

Cities trip in June?  The difference is noticable in the photos but you're going to have to drive it to find out.

Looks nice! I also have a Robert's cover. I'm lucky that my second cousin does car upholstery on the side, so he hooked me up good. I'm very happy with the Robert's seat kit so far. Where did you buy your headliner kit from?

I can't wait to find out, but it looks like I'll have to wait a month or two for spring to come.

Merle you coming for back to the 50s or the WPC meet?

WPC... but Back to the 50's is on my bucket list.

The rest of the interior is from Quiet Rides.

Walter P Chrysler club convention is there this year along with the NDC (National Desoto Club) convention. They are have a combined convention this year. I'm thinking about driving the 41 DeSoto, but it will be hard to make it for me.

I would check with the host club.  I have seen it both ways.  Where all you needed to do was pay the registration fee, and the other where they made you join the national before they would let you register.  I participated in two without joining the POC.  I also attended a Walter P Chrysler club national without joining the club.   If they aren't happy to see you and your car and happy to let you register for the event, then it kinda tells you what you are dealing with as far as the attitude of the club is.   Most of the registration forms I have seen are priced ala cart for individual events so you should be able to pay for the show on the day of the show if you do not want to participate in other events that go along with the meet.  If folks from the Tucson organization are reading this I would encourage allowing any one who showed up, you know kind of a non discrimination attitude.  Who knows you might even get some new members by actually welcoming people in stead of being in hospitable like some of the regions I have seen.

By the way there has already been more discussion about this event here on this forum than on the POC board.  Coincidence?

If anyone is interested   July 17-21, 2013 WPC Club 2013 National Meet, Minneapolis, MN.    More Information

just read thru the website for the meet and didn't see anything about the registration questions.  If someone finds out, I could be convinced to drive FEF out and participate!
