Any one has a good lead on were I can get a hold of one of these. The one on my my truck is bent and I need a new one. If you have an extra one you would like to sell also I would be interested. Also does anyone have a picture of the 1 ton 6 lug hub? If you do would you be so kind as to post it or send it to me. Thanks. The part number for the center link is 1194 224 from the parts book.

Thank you for your help and this forum. One more question how do I post pictures here. I would like to post pictures of my truck and the work that I'm doing to it to get her ready for the April BBQ.

Can't help you with your parts request, but as far as posting pics, here's one way:after you type your post, scroll down & click on "manage attachments". A window will pop up for you to browse you computer/desktop or whatever for pics to post, click on "browse", find a pic & click on it. It should upload. You can enter 5 per post I believe. When you're done, click on "preview post" to make sure the "thumbnail" pics are there.

If I forgot something, someone will hopefully add to it or correct me. There are other ways, such as Photobucket, etc. but it's been a while since I've done it this way. Hope this helps.

Are you talking about the tie rod or the drag link that goes from the pitman arm on the steering box to the right steering knuckle? If its the drag link, it is supposed to have a bend in it to clear the right spring on a hard left turn. I have a spare drum in my garage attic that I can take a picture of for you. I'll post it later today. Mike

The Drag Link is Cast Iron. You won't be bending that.

Thanks for the heads up Fowler. After I read your post I went to ebay and found two rods and both had a bend in them. After work I will ck out the truck to see if I really need it. Thanks a bunch.

Your "I" beam is bent too!

Well took a look at the center link and it looks that the link is straight but now bent. Just above the link is the steering rod and that looks to be bent as well but I think the steering rod is supoppose to be bent. I will take a picture and post it tomorrow. Also does anybody have a spare drivers window? I will trade it for the either a center rear window or the two corner windows.

yes your drag link should have a bend in it. Tie rod should be straight. A torch and hammer should be able to rectify a bend it that!

This post might have some useful information

I see nothing in that post that would need a bent in the tie rod...drag link yes, but the tie rod?

Well here it is ladies and gentlemen the culprit of my headacheIMAG0081.jpg

And here is a picture of the beast in progress.

So does anyboy have a center link for sale or trade?

Some more pictures of the beast. I found it in the Los Angeles CL and after a few calls to the owner a deal was done. What an ordeal it was to pick it up, but that is a story for another day.

Finally at last ! Was beginning to think you lived in the Okefenokee Swamp and didn't know what a digital camera was. I'm guessing your Pitman Arm is just fine if it's in one piece it wouldn't bent it would crack. Your tie rod is bent. Some a-hole like our infamous "Two Tooth Timmy" the tow truck driver must have put a floor jack under it and started jacking.

Don't ask me how I know,

Hank :)

P.S. If you are in the Los Angeles area, Johnson's Alignment had no problem straightening mine. If not you may want to have a shop familiar with 50's vehicles do an alignment for you. I suggest it's after you buy tires and have them determine if you need to re-bush your King Pins. It's only money and until you do you're now going to hurt anything driving it like that. It'll just handle like a bad shopping cart. Make sure you use good jack stands and every redundant safety measure while working under you truck. Nice Truck by the way.

I will ck the kingpins later. I powder coated the wheels and bought new tires for Christmas. I will ck them after I'm done making a wiring harness and installing a old Dodge alternator(almost done). The tie rod and kingpins are next. The brakes after that, and if I have time a T-5 and Petronix ignition. Last but not least the drivers side window glass. Hank you wouldn't have an extra glass laying around would you? Hehehehe.

you don't need a different tie rod, you just need to straighten the one you have.

Mine was bent more than yours is. I just straightened it myself with a small press. It won't matter if it is not perfectly straight, but it needs to be pretty close, your alignment will take up for a little bend in the link.
