slicknapier Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Is there anywhere besides ebay to buy a steering wheel nut for my 48 Dodge Panel truck? $20 seems a little steep for a nut. If it's a last resort I can stomach it, but if there is someone out there that has one or knows of a place to get it that would be great. Also, just to confirm that it's 5/8"-20 thanks, andrew Quote
Young Ed Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 On 39-47 trucks its the same nut that holts the flex line to the frame by the rear axle. Quote

slicknapier Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 Cool thanks. Is that nut available? Quote
John-T-53 Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Hardware store... This one would be a jamb nut, so you could take a standard off the shelf nut and grind it down... Also stake it in 4 places to make it a lock nut. Quote
slicknapier Posted December 27, 2012 Author Report Posted December 27, 2012 seems the hardware store fine threads are all 5/8-18.. Quote
Scruffy49 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 Tractor Supply has them around here. Lots of old tractors had oddball sized hardware. Quote

slicknapier Posted January 10, 2013 Author Report Posted January 10, 2013 well turns out my threads are to stripped to work with. I'm going a different route on the threaded part. Thanks for all of the replies though.. Quote
