B1B Keven Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 First, When did Dodge change the seat springs (not the frame). My '49 has two brackets on the back that drop down into the base (passenger side shown in pic). Also, Could someone post a pic of an unmolested door showing the mounting holes for the trim panel? I need to know if the bottom and top rows of holes are parallel to one another, what the distance is between them and, also, the distance between the holes on the left and right of the trim panel. Thanks! Quote
ggdad1951 Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 which and what do you want measurments for? Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 16, 2012 Author Report Posted December 16, 2012 Perfect! Are the mounting holes on the bottom row in a straight line? Are the mounting holes on the top in a straight line? What is the distance between three mounting holes on the left of the door? What is the distance between three mounting holes on the right of the door? Thanks Mark. I'm trying to help another vendor with layout. Quote

B1B Keven Posted December 16, 2012 Author Report Posted December 16, 2012 yes Thanks. Do you have a picture of the back of your seat back? Quote
Dave72dt Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 That's a '51 door. B1's and 2's used a different trim panel. Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 That's a '51 door. B1's and 2's used a different trim panel. Ya, I know. But I'm hoping the mounting screws are in the same location, minus the two in the 'hump' of the B1/B2's. Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 Yes they do Paul! Looks sort of like a rifle rack for the attaching point. Now the million dollar question: What year did Dodge go from the design I have to yours? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 My late '50 B2C has a seat like what Paul showed. I don't know when they changed. Merle Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 19, 2012 Author Report Posted December 19, 2012 OK, can someone with a '48-'50 confirm this. There are only six mounting screws for the door panel. One in each corner and two in the 'hump'. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) Here is how the 1948-50 door panels are mounted. Used are four (5) push button clips and seven (6) chrome screws and counter sunk washers. Don Bunn's book shows this same pattern too. Bob Edited December 20, 2012 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Looks like mine had 5 push button fasteners and 6 screws. Merle Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 19, 2012 Author Report Posted December 19, 2012 Cool. Thanks guys. No wonder mine had so many holes. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) I think 5 push in button clips W/6 screws is correct like you say Merle as on my door panels I did 30 plus years ago did have a button on the lower center of the panel. I photo shopped the pic above to show a screw as to eliminate confusion and match the Bunn picture as an after thought-stupid!. It's real hard to tell the push clips from screws in Bunn's book but on page 74 another picture shows more clearly the lower center button and now I can rest assured I mounted my panels properly when I did that truck back in 74! It's been put out to pasture now:( Bob Edited December 20, 2012 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
wallytoo Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 keven, a few more pics of an early door panel, showing the 6 attachment screws and 5 plugs for both a driver and passenger door. also a pic of the underside of the arm rest. i realize the thread is a month old, but i believe my door is mostly unmolested, the obvious exception being the window winding handles. wally Quote

He's not getting very much business from us truck owners. PS. My drivers side sun visor has that exact same upholstery on it and it's in very good condition. Keven Quote
49Bseries Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 "PS. My drivers side sun visor has that exact same upholstery on it and it's in very good condition. " Keven My visors are also that material: kind of a light brown cardboard with a crinkled leather look embossed pattern. It would be great if we could figure out how to get some new pattern that is close. Quote
