Horn Relay

My wife, Cooper and I took the old Plymouth out this afternoon to go for ice cream, on the way back home the horn started to blow intermittenly, stop, then do so again, then stop for the last mile or so home.

My horn relay is 20 years old, is that a good place to start checking?

Thanks,

Bob

disconnect the horn wire from the bottom of the steering sector...go for another ice cream..odds are the demons have departed..splits the system and go from there is the idea here..you know your voltage is present to the relay..you know the relay is making contact for the horn to blow..

Bob, yep I'd be checking the place where the horn wire comes out, it may have rubbed thru there or at the top where it comes out to the steering wheel earth switch........either end is a possibility........and BTW I trust you are keeping well and not chasing the nurses around........I would worry about what I'd do with one if I caught one..............lol..........best wishes, mate.....andyd

I've had a couple old cars/trucks do that to me. It was always a short in the line, usually someplace the insulation had worn off, and it was grounding out. Two old Ford trucks it was out in the engine bay, the good ol' D24 it was in the steering column.
