The other day I was contacted by a gentleman who lives in Tidewater Virginia. Bill has just purchased a 1941 Plymouth station wagon and he had some questions. This past Saturday he came by for a visit and to see my car. His car was purchased new by his neighbor and, as a kid, Bill helped work on it. The neighbor parked the car in his gargage 35 years ago and has since passed away. Bill was able to purchase the car from the family. I have encouraged Bill to visit this forum and I hope he does. Here are some pictures he sent me showing the car with 35 years of stuff piled on it. The last picture shows the pretty solid all original car on the trailer.

Thats incredible. What a find. Looks like a good cleaning and it will be presentable.

Good finds are still out there! Looks like a really decent project and I hope he visits the forum. Thanks for posting.

Fantastic find!

A time capsule in a suburban garage - for 35 years.

This should be presented in "Hemmings Classic Car" as "driveable dream"!

I recall there was a thread on recovering old paintwork by buffing on the forum just recently. Bill would be interested to study that thread...

Great Find,

I vote clean her up and drive as is. Of course fix the mechanicals but great original condition. Lots of patina.

Sorry Jim, for some of us we are just not that lucky. Anyway when we drive our cars we can reflect on all the nuts and bolts we turned to get it back on the road. Never mind.., maybe that’s more of a negative then a positive. ??

Mine was intact when I bought my P10 in 2003. Is there a market to have the tag reproduced? How many years was it used?

Jim - just out of curiousity - think we've discussed this before. Is there a USHCO body tag above the rear lift gate? on the inside and at the center near the roof line????

Jim,

I have only seen the pictures I posted, I have not actually seen the car. I will ask Bill about the tag.

The AACA also has a class or designation for substantially origial cars. I believe oe of our members just got his car recognized under thier auspices in that regard.

Greg you are correct. I just had my 39 Desoto judged at the eastern regional AACA car show.

There are two badges or classifications within the HPOF class. HPOF or historical Preservation of Original Feature and then another badge that goes behind this and has ORGINAL on this badge. This is a point judged calss and you have to score between 22-30 points based on how orginal the car is.

This woodie would make for a perfect example to be judged for HPOF. If anyone wants more details on this class I will explain.
