First this is my fault. I should have labeled everything. I should have taken more pictures. Another lesson learned.

I am putting my car back together and I have a part I can not identify. I need your help.

Oh oh... that piece should have been the first piece to be installed. Now you'll have to disassemble the whole car again to get it in. ;):D

Actually I don't know what it is, but I couldn't resist making a joke. :P

I've done a lot of stuff to my p15 and parted out 2 others and I don't recognize that piece. Are you sure its off your car? Can you take a picture from another angle?

It's a later style 1955-8 spark plug wire loom bracket. Not a P-15 part.

Well here's two pics of the different styles. Notice on one the coil bolts to the top of the bracket with 2 bolts holes. It bolts to the side of the head.

Everybody keeps telling me there is no difference between the 47 and 48 P15 - but the more I work on them the more little nuanced things I find. I just noticed the carb linkage is just a little different between the two.

My guess for this piece is it has something to do with the coil bracket. I think I have an extra bracket (with the tubes) in my box of parts that I refuse to throw out because I know I'll need them some day.

Next step is the parts book. I can't believe I didn't take pictures - how silly. I guess I just didn't want to waste the film - no, wait...

OK, if that thing is off a '55 motor.....is your engine a '55 or thereabouts?

The item with the two tubes and place to mount the coil is for a P15.

This is my plug wire item.......it's flat on top with tubes for the plug wires underneath.

There's another version with a tube on each side that you see.

Okay - tomorrow I'm going out to check this out. I didn't see any bolt holes in the head. I appreciate the pictures. It helps. I'm going to see if I can find a bracket that is a little more stock.

Thanks for all the help. This is the greatest forum for knuckleheads like me.

Thanks

So it looks like the guy I bought it from was trying to soup it up with parts from the 50s. Now I'm concerned about the engine. Guess I better check the numbers. I just had it rebuilt and told the machinist it was a P15 1947.

I'm off today - time to look for missing parts.

As I recall, the side of the loom bracket, closest to the oil filter, goes

underneath the filter bracket and is held on with the same bolt or stud.

Therefore, that only leaves one other bolt hole to look for.
