I used the search feature and found many threads on doing a T-5 swap. I used the key words "Transmission swap". Pasted below are only a couple of the many threads on this subject.

"Debating it" (that is)...

A T-5 conversion, a Rusty Hope Disc Brake kit, and a Bona Fide custom fabricated "all aluminum" hot rod radiator may be on my christmas list for a long while.

most folks that take the T5 route often go a step further with a modern rear gear to take advantage of the new ratios and better highways of today verse yesteryear..not to even mention the gaint leap forward in braking..when doing a driv line mdoification I always take the origninal gear out and upgrade..for all reasons I just listed..

One of the threads listed is mine. Sadly its not out of date I just haven't gotten back to the project. As Tim mentioned part of my swap will be to a modern rear gear with a parking brake setup. It would be nice to incorporate the factory pull handle but I've got a ways to go on that.

the use of the factory pull handle is not a hard item to tie in and I have been able to use that in every instance..will be doing the same with this recent ongoing conversion

Remember the factory pull handle in my pickup is connected directly to the transmission. So when its gone and a T5 is in its place its no longer connected to anything.

remember also..that the stationary end of your cable is at the pull handle and it only stubs at the tranny..once unbolted at the tranny end you have the option to route and place as you see fit..of course I may be going out on a limb ehre but all the sedans and modern donor parts I have ever used stub in this fashion

I think young pop is talking about a brake handle as pictured.

My 46 has no cable. Its got a solid arm that pulls the brake.

Not sure who actually makes it -Tremec?- commonly found in S-10's or that's the one usually used. Mustangs have it too. Non od trans have a final ration of 1 to 1 or basically the same speed as the engine. An OD trans will spin the output shaft faster than the engine is spinning so you need less engine RPM to go the same speed on the road. They come in different OD ratios. A .72 OD ratio would mean the engine turns 720 revolutions and the output shaft would turn 1000 revolutions.

Dave: Thank you. I just read through the links Don suggested. As most of you know I am a novice and a T-5 swap appears to be far beyond me. If I can cruse at 65 with a standard 3 speed which I have and a stock 218 which I have by changing the rear axle, I will be pleased.
