JIPJOBXX Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Somehow I lost the wing nut that holds down the air cleaner and its kind of an odd ball size. Does anyone have one as right now its held down by a simple nut but would like to have the right style for ease of removal. Jon:cool: Quote
Young Ed Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Do you know the size of the thread? Got a fastenal retail outlet near you? Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 Yea I know but its an odd ball size as I went through this procedure befor. If you find one in a hardware store let me know!!!!!! Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 Yea maybe an obma wind nut might just due! Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Have you thought about measuring the diameter of the shaft and threads per inch count? That information would be pretty valuable in finding a replacement. If you walk into a hardware store and ask for an "odd ball" most likely they would think you are one:rolleyes: Here is another thought. Perhaps you could carry the nut you are using into the hardware store and tell them you want a wing nut the same size. That way you dont have to do any measuring..... Quote
randroid Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Jon, If memory serves me it's 3/16NF but why don't you remove the rod and take it to the store? Better yet, I've got to go to the hardware store today anyway so if you'd like I'll pick one up for you. -Randy Quote

Last time I looked for this item I went to Lowes and they did not have any so I thought well this is an odd ball item but like I said Home Depoe had four of them in a bag for dollar out the door. Niel Hoback Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Now that you have a replacement and extras, its only a matter of time until you find the original. Probably by stepping on it. Did you look in your pants cuffs? Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 No but I did look all over my garage floor. But next time I know exactly where to find the extras oh wait a minute where did I put those darn things??? Quote
aero3113 Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Do you think this was the cure to your smoking issue? The air cleaner could have been moving around while you were driving allowing the oil to seep out and burn on the exhaust? Quote
YukonJack Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 For 12.95 u can get 3 of them on Ebay. Not my auction. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 You know maybe you have a point there? Well the engine is running just fine has a mis but it always has one and someday when I win a lotto I will have that fixed. But for now it runs along fine and I can cruse at 50 with no problem. Quote
