Dave72dt Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Mine has a single mounting point also, It's a 51. 2 possibly on earlier years? Canadian? maybe 4 for export? Quote
Monkey Truck Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) two mounting brackets? Mine only has one, unless we are talking different things? The mount on the ROOF of the cab, right? Yes, mine has 2 on the Roof of the cab. I have a '48 B1B Edited February 7, 2013 by monkeytruck Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Mine is a B2, although it's a late built B2. Maybe the transition was with the B2 models, or it changed later in the B2 models. Quote
Monkey Truck Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Here are some better pictures of my headliner. I just realized today that in order to put seatbelts in I will need to take some of the headliner out again. Dang it, got ahead of myself. Did your headliner from Quiet Rides come with pre-drilled holes along the back and side edges? Mine has no holes at all. Just wondering if you had to align and drill those yourself, or it they came with holes. My back window panel and door panels have holes, but not the headliner. Quote

Ok, thanks. My old headliner is long gone, so I'll probably have to align and take my best shot at matching the holes. Edited February 18, 2013 by monkeytruck Quote
ggdad1951 Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 the holes are pretty oversized in the headliner so you should be ok. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) so I FINALLY have some time to start to sort thru my headliner. My questions are for those who have installed the headliners from Quiet ride: 1. I measure my old headlinder at the center spine of it cab front to rear at about 39.5", the Quiet ride measures only about 38", does that mean it doesn't line up with the holes in the rear of the cab? 2. with #1 above do I DARE mark and drill holes w/o it installed first/do I even HAVE to put holes in due to #1 does it even reach the holes? 3. the rear of the headliner has SOME bend at the edges but then goes pretty flat, did yours curl correctly at the rear after install or is there some trick? Do the current bended parts near the ends smooth out after install? 4. I WAS going to cut the "dome" light hole before install but I am leary of doing that w/o it installed due to #1 above with some answers from you guys I MIGHT get the fortitiude up to install it this week! I'm itching for Spring to Sprung! I'm a little nervous doing all that work in the cab since it's so pretty! Edited March 2, 2013 by ggdad1951 Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I honestly don't remember exactly how I installed mine. But I don't remember having much issue. The headliner slips in over the windshield header. Mine was a tight fit after the insulation and everything. And I recall that the rear came down just past the button clip holes. The rear panels went over the top of the headliner. I also don't remember how I lined up and drilled the holes, but however I did it, it worked. Quote
Monkey Truck Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Thanks Merle, that's very helpful. I'm finished with all my Dyna-mat and insulation, now I'm ready to start installing the headliner and panels. In an earlier post I was curious about the holes in the top of the headliner, then I realized there are no holes pre-drilled in the headliner for the sides or back either. Your picture above and explanation eases my curiosity. 1 Quote

Also if you can measure the distance front to back along the center seam? thanks! Quote

Monkey Truck Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 No, 1st weekend in a while I wasn't able to work on the truck. I opted to go "barrel tasting" at all the fabulous winery around here. The truck was calling my name for sure, but a day of wine tasting got in the way.....My goal is to finish before the BBQ. I'm hoping to get the headliner installed this weekend, so I'll definitely get those measurements for you. Quote

Also if you can measure the distance front to back along the center seam? thanks! I installed the headliner and back panels this past weekend. It went pretty well, definitely a job for 2 people. I had to do a little cutting, trimming, drilling etc., but all in all, everything fit really well. The holes along the back ended up varying just a little. In the center it measured 3/4" up from the bottom edge. As you move from center to the left and right the 3 holes on each side progressively get higher. The far left and far right holes measured 1", so only a 1/4" difference overall. I pushed the headliner up and marked the holes as I worked from center out. The distance front to back along the center seam is 38". 1 Quote
B1B Keven Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Looking good! What color/brand paint did you use? Quote
Young Ed Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Agreed. I've got a brown seat in my 46 and was just looking at ordering one of their headliners. Quote
Monkey Truck Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 I have the Roberts seat covers and they are a lighter brown than the SEM paint I used. I like Merle's color match he used with the Krylon paint, but a friend highly recommended the SEM paint as well as Quiet Rides. After seeing the darker brown, I decided to go with it. I like the contrast it gives with the yellow. Some day when I reupholster my seats, I'll go with a darker brown to match the interior. So for now I'll have a bit of a two-toned brown interior. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 They've got lower panels for the rear of the cab now? Those weren't avaialble when I did mine. They recommended the SEM paint to me too, but all I could find in browns from them was much lighter... more like tan. That's why I used the Krylon Fusion paint instead. Your darker brown looks nice too. I believe the original panels were a darker brown than what I used. Merle Quote
Monkey Truck Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Yes, the lower panels are a 3 piece panel. The two corners go in first, then the middle panel overlaps them about 2". The corner panels were a little tricky to fit, I had to do a little trimming at the bottom to get them in. Quiet Rides now offers a 1 piece panel that spans the 3 windows, which I chose to use. The guy at Quiet Rides told me that they just recently added that to copy original panels. Quote

Wen you put yours in did you mark and drill the holes for the top headliner before you put the rear window liner in? Quote
