I have just joined this forum.

My name is Mick and I am from Rochester Australia.

I have a 1940 Chrysler 2 door Coupe C25.

It is not going at the moment (motor in pieces).

The body is very good and when I bought it it was covered in flat black primer.

This is my 3rd Mopar.

My first was a 1948 Dodge (sold)

My second was a 1954 Plymouth Cranbrook (also sold)

The interior of My Chrysler is stuffed and will need to be totally reupholstered.

It was imported into Australia in the middle of last year 2010, I bought it off the importer.

It is still left hand drive but I intend changing in to right hand drive for safety reasons.

I am a Mopar fanatic and just thought I would use my first post to say G'day.

G'day Mick - welcome to the forum.

There's a few Aussies on the site - from all over the country. I'm up in Cairns but I know there's a couple down Victoria way.

This forum will provide you with plenty of information and all of the fellows are helpful - there's no car related you won't be able to get some type of answer to!

Love to see some photos of the other Mopar's you've owned over the years, and some of your new project car too.

Again - welcome to one of the best forums on the net.

Hey Mick, so I have to ask. Rugby or Aussie rules? I have a bunch of Aussie mates in the Atlanta Georgia area and we have an Aussie rules team here that I play with. Look forward to your posts, and we can't help that you drive on the wrong side of the road.

Mick..you state your changing to right hand drive for safety issues..was just curious if this is a requirement or can cars be improted with left hand drive and still be registered..

Tim, as far as I know if the vehicle is over 30 years old, there is no requirement to change over to RHD. This applies for Queensland, not sure about Victoria. Our import laws over here changed recently so that modified vehicles basically can't be imported - a '47 Dodge with an SBC transplanted into it would not be considered a '47 vehicle, but taken as of the date the new engine was matched with the car. Unless this was 30 years ago, then it won't pass the test.

So, the imports have to basically be stock to come in.

I can understand the safety aspect of the swap to RHD, I've driven both and if I was planning on doing a lot of KM's, the swap over would perhaps be worth it.

Wayne, Aussie Rules. "Collingwood".:D

Tom, Melbourne is the Capital city of Victoria.

Tim, we can register L.H.D. vehicles here in Victoria but they must be 30 years old.

I am going to change to R.H.D. as it's too dangerous overtaking when L.H.D.

Ok if you have a passenger to see if it's safe to overtake but downright dangerous if you are on your own.

Will try and post a few pics soon.

Would be a lot easier if someone could provide an email address then I could send them by email and get them posted up here for me.

I am not real good on computers.

Mick sent me some photos to put on here. What great cars!!

His comments:

The first 2 are of my 1954 Plymouth Cranbrook.

I put a 318 LA motor with a 904 transmission and a Borgwarner L.S.D.

I have since sold it.

The registration number (I think you guys call it Licence number) was USA 54 "personalised plates".

The next 4 are of my 1940 Chrysler Royal 2 door Coupe.

G'day Mick. Welcome to the forum, a great bunch. When you start on your coupe start a build thread as well. We like photos, just have a go, I had to try a few times before getting it right. Cheers, Roger
