Don Coatney Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Your throttle linkage looks OK in this picture but the return spring does not. Your wiper knob is on upside down. You are missing the bellhousing vent screens. I think you will find your ever dry kit is actually ever wet. The rubbers will hold water and rust the P right off of your head. I think you would have better luck with your positive battery cable connected below the generator bracket. I believe the upper radiator tank was painted black when it left the factory. Have you started this engine yet? Quote
John Reddie Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Mike, The coupe is looking real nice. Love the dash. What is the cable with the knob that says "cruising gear"? Is it for overdrive maybe? John R Quote
michael.warshaw Posted May 8, 2011 Author Report Posted May 8, 2011 yes that is a over drive cable for the od tranny i put in, matches the other knobs, i thought it ws a better choice then the metal cables that say overdrive. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) Mike, here's how the ground was originally attached ..... that head bolt with threads for the second bolt to hold the cable end. 2. Where did you get that knob for the overdrive?? 3. I also believe the top tank of the radiator was black when new, but shiny brass always looks cool. 4. The everdry spark plug things will probably be ok if.....if you don't get much water on the hood from washing or being in rain. The center seam does seem to leak, mainly at those openings where you insert the flat tab that holds the stainless trim down. 5. re: the wiper knob.......actually it is pointing the right way. I found a pic in the parts manual showing it in that position. Seems backward but evidently is correct. The positioning of the knob might possibly have been changed at some point.....I don't know. Plymouthy Adams Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 my factory books how that the knob is indeed wrong..but with the flashy rad cover who is going to notice.. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Bob your ground cable is original for later engines but p15s attach to a stud that attaches the generator bracket. Quote

P-12 Tommy Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Mine's also bolted to the gen bracket bolt. Don't know how many years they did that. Tom Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Bob your ground cable is original for later engines but p15s attach to a stud that attaches the generator bracket. Oh....OK.....my engine is a 1957 Plymouth item (that came with some head we didn't use, could have been the original one). The head on the engine is from a 1950 Dodge. Don't know where that grounding bolt came from, then. Still learning new stuff after all these years.......thanks to this forum. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 my factory books how that the knob is indeed wrong... Hmmm.....this picture in the parts manual seems to show the knob pointing to the rear of the car, best I can tell. There was some other pic (will have to look again) that seemed to show it pointing forward. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 All the pics I've seen show it pointing towards the rear of the car. Tom Quote
