Can anyone tell me what model car this fits? They don't fit my 48 Desoto. The part that mates to the cowl is too long and too narrow measuring 5 5/8 long and 3/4 wide.

For all I know these could be made for one of the lesser quality cars like Ford or Chevy <GRIN>.

These are what the very hard to find and pricey mirrors look like that fit your car. Jay Fisher who I think has stopped making them was a source at one time. The 1946-8 Dodge /DeSoto and Chrysler Swan Neck mirrors are screwed on from the outside with fillister phillip head screws and a special metal clip with the nuts crimped on is attached to the body-unlike the Plymouth Swan Necks attached with studs and nuts from the back side.

Sorry about the the poor quality pics!

Those dimensions match the dimensions of the swan neck mirrors I have on my '41 Plymouth. One is an original I found at Hershey and the other is a Jay Fisher reproduction. They fasten from behind with two screws passing through the cowl from inside the car.

Jim, could you possibly take a few close up pictures of your mirrors so I can check? I have 5 of the driver side mirrors NOS in perfect shape.

Even though they aren't correct for my car, I placed one about an inch or so above the trim on the drivers door and it looks fantastic! I'm thinking about mounting one there.

If I do that, I'll sell the others but knowing what they fit will certainly help.

And by the way, your car looks great!

Jim,

I think you are right, the ones I have seem to be correct for your car.

I'm going to mount one on my car although they won't be in the original configuration. But I think it will look great.

After I get it mounted, I'll probably list the others on eBay.

I will try and get some close-up pictures (if my wife will let me use her camera).

Thanks for the compliment.

Newbie here, P-15 streetrod needs mirror(s). Is there any way to contact Jay Fisher? Are you saying you have the correct mirrors? Would you sell a driver side mirror? Thanks for the forum and information. dave
