I'm driving myself nuts trying to make a hard line for my fuel. I have a couple tight bends I need to make and am not 100% happy with my latest attempt at bending the line.

The fuel line from the filter to the fuel pump isn't that long...maybe 3 feet. Any reason I can't use flexible fuel hose for that line?

It will be hidden in the frame, so I'm not worried about it looking cheezy...just want it to be effective.

I will travel in front of the oil pan, and the frame rail isn't right near the exhaust manifold..but it's close. Not sure if heat is going to be an issue.

Other than the rubber fuel hose you can get at NAPA, is there a better hose for this purpose?

All of the auto parts stores sell gasoline hose , it comes in different diameters . There is nothing wrong with using the rubber gas hose for a turn , it is quick and easy and of course it will flex with any movement . Make sure that any fuel line doesn't vibrate against something that will wear a hole in it though .

Dan, if it were me, since you will have it hidden inside the frame rail, I would get the rubber fuel hose, slide it inside a length of heater hose and leave about 2 inches out on each end to clamp. By the time it wears thru the heater hose, we won't have gas anymore anyways.....:D

you can also fill the tube with sand when you bend it to not crush the tubing...and old trick for making cooling coils for brewing beer.

I don't think I would want to put sand inside a fuel line, even for bending purposes.

as long as it is cleaned out why not? Just need to run a cleaner thru it.

You can also use external springs made specifically to keep tubing from collapsing while being bent. I have never had much luck using these springs as it is very difficult to remove them once the tubing has been bent.

Sand works fine in a new tube. Better to have a good bend then a weak one that pinches on you later. Even the small tube benders can pinch if you dont use it right.

NAPA sells a metal fuel line that is nearly kink free. I used the stuff on my truck and it worked really well and looks good too. The line has the flanges on it already on both ends and you buy the stuff by the length.

I used some steel NAPA brake line for my fule line. I think it was 5/16" and 3 ft long.

First I bent a piece of heavy wire to make a pattern of how I wanted the fuel line to look. Then use a tubing bender and matched the fuel line to the wire pattern. You don't make just one bend in the tubing but several real tiny bends over a few inches. It won't kink if you do that.

See attached for results. It looks real nice I think.

I did the same, used 5/16 brake line and just took my time with it, and also added a few frame brackets in to keep it tight and straight in some spots...just make sure their the type with the rubber inside so you don't wear a spot in your line. I also bypassed the manual pump and went electric...it was cheaper then the new manual I would have needed and better volume with it.

Bradley..you look like you have some funky gas in your pre-carb filter..LOL...or is that all that american Corn Gas? :D
