Coffin04 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I'm trying to hunt down a pivot stud for my Clutch torque bar. Mine broke off the frame one day while driving and i've been having trouble finding one ever since. Called Bernbaum's because it was named in the catalog and he ended up sending me the clutch side pivot. we even described parts to each other before finalizing the sale. "Is it a bracket with two hole in it?" "No, it's a ball joint at the end of a 1/2" stud." Called him about that. said he had a bad feeling about it when he sent it in the first place...yeah great help to me. And with the post off hours around here i haven't had a chance to send it back. I'm ranting now. Anyway, i need to find this part. Looked all over eBay. Haven't found it yet. Found them for other makes/models/years buut not for a 49-52 dodge/plymouth/etc. If any of you have had to replace this part, or have an idea as to where i can find one, please let me know. Other wise i'm just going to have to get one machined for me. Quote
PatS.... Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Picture? I might have one in the parts car but need to know what I'm looking for. Quote

55 Fargo Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Could a new piece of stud be welded on , and new threads cut, say at a Machine Shop Quote
Greenbomb Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Chop off the broken end at the appropriate spot and weld on to the head of a grade 8 bolt. Quote
Coffin04 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 if i can't just find a replacement part i'm going to have to do that. the trouble is finding the time. Quote

Coffin04 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 I did and i emailed the site. Trying to confirm it is indeed exactly what i'm looking for since i don't have a lot of time to get to the post office and return incorrect parts. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 "Borth Enterprises" (bfoxhead@aol.com) is parting out a D-24, also. Doesn't list that part per se, but there's probably one on the car. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I've seen clutch pivot balls in the 'Help' section of auto parts stores. If it's not on display, the store might have the R&B / Help catalog to look in. Maybe one of those would work. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I went out in the shop to look in my box of stuff I removed from the chassis when I did my upgrades as I am sure I kept that item.....but..could not find where I put the box...sorry..I tried.. Quote
Coffin04 Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 Well thanks for the help Tim. Thank you Shel. Think i may have a solution. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 This is probably the correct clutch torque shaft frame stud for your car. Approx. 1-3/4" long X 3/4" hex. Bob Quote
