GaryPrice Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I saw where they were calling for snow in Brownsville, TX. At this rate, college spring breakers in Corpus Christie and Panama City have to be wondering if they'll be building snow men instead of sand castles. Quote
greg g Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 geez you guys are making me feel like a piker. Haven't had any apprecialbe snow for 2 days (but our season total is at 126 inches to date) it's a balmy 29 degrees out. supposed to be in the mid 30's over the weekend with no significant snowfall forcasted. Guess I need to pack a picnic lunch and go to the beach. Perhaps with this weather its hard to grasp global warming, so may its easier to believe in climate change. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Here's the snow plow stuck in my front yard. All the big trucks were busy on the main roads, so they were down to using pick-ups on side streets. Obviously not up to the job. Quote

PatS.... Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 I have about an inch and a half of water in my garage at the house here. Too warm too fast. I thought I had caulked all the gaps around the doors but I guess I was wrong. Time to sweep it all out the big door. Temps supposed to plunge tonight again. Quote

Thats what I do not like about mild weather over this are in the dead of winter, but man she is nice out there still, likea blanket of warm moist air over us right now. I went outside just to enjoy it for a while.... Quote
T120 Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 ..Pat,I have a similar problem with my garage, although not too bad. There is a gradual slope from the house to my garage and on to the alley. The man door is at one end of the garage facing the house, and with a sudden melt with the snow we have I have some water build up and flow into the garage at the base of the man door.Fortunately with the slope it carries on through and out to the alley.Only a small area of the garage is affected and not really much of of a problem. At least the drainage is away from the house..Too much build up of snow this winter and not enough Chinooks.Hope you get things mopped up before it freezes.. I am lucky my garage is high and dry, but had frost in the window sliders, cleaned that all out, cleaned the floor, it's about 50 f in there right now. I always get frost build up on the inside of my garage windows, this is a 5 year old building, R40 in the attic, R20 walls, vapor barriered and sealed. But when the cars drop snow, water, moisture it goes right to the inside of the windows, anyway of dealing with this......Fred Quote
T120 Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 ..Hopefully the sanding trucks will be out in your area and do their job where required.Driving on ice at these temperatures isn't safe.. Quote
hkestes41 Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Well we had about 5 inches overnight and thorugh until early afternoon. The snow actually made getting around a little easier since it covered the ice. Was a very powdery snow, which turned the hills on the golf course across the street into a snowboarding area for the neighborhood kids. Personally, I am ready for this crap to be over with. They even cancelled the local Junior A hockey game tonight so I am stuck at home watching TV. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Well guys, I temporarely joined the ranks of the cold weather guys.I'm in a town east of Cleveland called Mentor. It's cold as hell here, like down to -2 tonight. Plus 6 inches of snow. I was just spoiled by the Florida weather. I'll be back in Fl by the 28th. Builds character. Tom Quote

Its clear like saran wrap. Just cover the entire window trim if equipped. Makes a frost shield just like some of the old car pics that have been posted. Used that in Alaska a few times in an older house I was in. Different design same problem IE keeping moisture from freezing. Edited February 8, 2011 by Alshere59 Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Here in St. Louis, we have snow over sleet over ice. About 8 inches total. Now that I'm retired and no longer have to work outside in this stuff, it doesn't bother me a bit. I've made two batches of beer, three batches of chili, restored an old bamboo fly rod, replaced the old hot water heater, repaired my telescope, tied flies, cleaned and polished my old guitar... Bring it on winter! I still have plenty of inside projects to do! Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Once I get back to Florida on the 28th, it can snow all it wants. Tom Quote
Oldguy48 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 As far as I'm concerned, 85 degrees in the shade is perfect. I'm fed up with this winter nonsense. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 Supposed to get 4 to 6 (or more) additional inches of snow later tonight (Tues) and into Wed. All a person can do is wait and see. Our main streets have been cleared, but most side streets have not......they are just mushed down from traffic. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 We got another 5" this morning and now its 2 degrees. So, I did the only thing I could; clean and rebuild a Jikov 32 SEDR carb for the kids Wartburg. Quote
