Drdialtone Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Is it possible to boost the light in the instrument panel on the 46-48 Plymouths? My light is very dim. Different bulb? Or is it just the way it is? Quote
aero3113 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 This is posted over on the tech tips Brighter Dash Lights Tommy Carroll, President of the Carolina Region, Plymouth Owners Club submitted a great tip to improve dash visibility and safety at night. He uses #81 bulbs instead of the standard #55 miniature bulb. The #55 has a brightness around 3 candle power compared to the #81 with 6 candle power. The #81 bulb really lights up the gauges and speedometer and heat generation seem about the same. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I've got several #57 bulbs......what are they good for?? Quote

Frank Elder Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Do you have a small toggle switch under the dash? In some models it is used to change from dim to bright,or does that even apply to the speedo? Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 On mine that switch turns the dash lights off. Try it. Quote
Drdialtone Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 Yeah, turns mine off too. I like the different bulb idea. I'll give it a try. THANKS! Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Bulbtown starts out real good at 52 cents each bulb, then when you add shipping of $6.40, the four bulbs I would get cost $10.56 Think I'll check with the local auto supply. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Well, that could be. I got a bunch of them a long time ago.....they are a small bulb like for dash lights and such (not large enough for tail lights). Quote
