48P15Annie
Very cool! My grandpa got a lighter knob a few years back...no idea where from though. -scratches head-
BobT-47P15
I messaged the seller to ask if the knob for the "top" was threaded and if the "headlight" knob had the metal clip in it. His reply was: "These knobs are just drilled size on size but you can tap them or put in set screws but you dont need to."
Young Ed
How does the headlight knob work without a clip in it? I don't think it would!
Niel Hoback
You could just drill and tap a small hole in the side for a set screw. It should work fine.
BobT-47P15
Here's the complete sellers remarks from the ad.......... You're looking at samples of chrysler knobs from the late 30's and 1940's which are reproduction and made from dental acrylic and come in either ivory, tan, carmel, or brown, depending on the year and make of your model. These knobs tap onto your exsisting cables after the old knobs are cut off and you might want to use one drop of superglue for an sure hold. You are only purchasing one knob at $19.95 , Two for $39.90 etc. Just figure out how many you want and put that amount in the box where it says quantity and hit "buy it Now" It's that easy and then you just let me know which knob(s) you need in the message part of the paypal check out.. For others not shown please ask because I have 39 chrysler and desoto window cranks and escutcheons and 40 plymouth cranks and eschutchens too, plus others not shown. Shipping will be $4.95 for up to 10 knobs. If you want more than 10 then shipping will be $9.90. I will not ship outside the USA If not fully satisfied just return for full refund minus the shipping and $2.39 selling fee that E-bay charges me. I have sold many of these sets @ $25 per knob in the past with no complaints. ALSO Not shown are the 1940 and 41, 42 knobs that are mushroom shaped and are similar to the all weather controls shown. allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. pay pal only please. I guess these knobs must be pretty heavy if buying 11 @ twenty bucks a pop doubles the freight cost. Guess this seller has never heard of USPS flat rate shipping. Plymouthy Adams
at that price they sould be direct copies and direct fit...to work further to modify them to work is not "reproduction" why did he not finish the job and do it correctly? the look of the knobs as far as lettering and color appears to be good rendition, to drill and tap these...is the inner core metal based with the plastic molded over it..it appears not...being the boo bird as I am...thumbs down.. Young Ed
I agree Tim. I couldn't figure out a good way to hold one of my headlight knobs with the broken metal piece while I drilled it. I'm not paying $20 plus shipping to risk messing up the finish drilling a hole in it.
michael.warshaw
the only part which bothers me is allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery i guess he doesnt have them made, he will produce them when the orders come in.
michael.warshaw
if your spending 20 a knob, and you buy enough where they dont kit into a flat rate box, with out damdging eachother, i dont think that person is worried about the extra 5 on shipping. Don Coatney
I stand by my original thought on price gouging on shipping. At the twenty buck each price the seller should be shipping for free. As the seller says "made from dental acrylic" so in reality no packing material should be required other than a wrap in toilet paper. That is my Boo Bird opinion! Plymouthy Adams
with all due respect the product is lacking some key features...while I stated he has the start of a fantastic product, the item is shy of being considered a reproduction part in the effect it does not fit and afix in the proper manner. Granted while this would not be an issue on a trailer queen where dress right dress if prime over fit and function..for a person who drives their car and has need to use the controls these knobs interface with..well I think you gonna come up short...the cost of the item is quite high given the fact that modification for proper use will be that of the owner upon reciept of said knobs...I will not get into the cost of shipping..as stated, without cables atached int he casting process...two set properly wrapped would fit in a priority flat rate smallest container.. so to repeat myself, the knobs look fantastic in appearance and if properly finished for correct fitment..the cost would not be an issue either..it is good to see new blood generating the hard to find pieces for our old car, no one is knocking that issue at all and I would venture to say most here are happy to see the new line..get the fitting details correct before calling them repops.. How hard is dental acrylic as compared to anything else? Would it hold a set screw if you drilled and tapped a hole? Just curious.Tom
Powerhouse
nice knobs....but not worth that price in my opinion. Specially not if you have create the mounting spot. Too bad, they look really nice.
Niel Hoback
I've held off saying anything because I don't have any idea what dental material would cost to use. I just now went to see the knobs. I would take a set at $5 each. They're just another thing priced out of my reach. Or reason.
P-12 Tommy
How does the headlight knob work without a clip in it? I don't think it would! My '41 has a threaded stem. Every few years they must be different.Tom
