41/53dodges Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 got a muffler for a ford tractor for $10, whatcha think? its just mocked up for now, it would move forward a little and rotate, etc. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 what type of heat shields are you going to put on that monster? I have always been fond of stacks but even more fond of safety.. Quote
rustyzman Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I too like stacks. Expect short life in the lower elbow where it connects to the bottom of the muffler though. All the condensation will collect in the bottom of the pipe. A small drain hole might be helpful. It would look cool. Would look even cooler with a nice flame coming out of it (not necessarily safe, but still looks cool.). Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I thought you told me once that you aren't into Rat Rods. But now you're starting to lean that way with this project. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 My truck came with stacks when I got it, but they weren't very well done. I'm still debating whether I'll use stacks again on my restoration. I've always like the look on the 'lil red' dodge trucks. I picked up a pair on ebay and may use those. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I always liked 'em on the Lil' Red Express trucks too. I remember seeing pictures of a Pilot-House that was done up in Lil' Red type trim. It looked pretty good. Anyone have a copy of that picture? Merle Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 (who matches the patina) say's "Oh darn I was thinking about jumping onto the running board and then into the bed...looks like I won't be able to do that now." Hank Quote
NiftyFifty Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I'll never understand why guys put stacks on....if you want a semi...then buy one, way cooler to have nice 2 1/2" pipes or 3" pipes straight out the back....but that's me......maybe my neck isn't quite red enough Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks Ed. What that at BTT50's? It looks like Wisconsin Hobbyist plates. Looks pretty good, but it needs slot mags. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Mopars in the park back when it was at raceway park. Thats the edge of the racetrack and the spectator stands Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks, I noticed it was a race track after I posted that. Quote
41/53dodges Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 what type of heat shields are you going to put on that monster? I have always been fond of stacks but even more fond of safety.. not really thinkin of using heat shields, if some dipstick finds that its a great idea to touch a nice hot muffler with smoke coming out of it thats their problem in my eyes. "I thought you told me once that you aren't into Rat Rods. But now you're starting to lean that way with this project." im still not into rat rods, just sending it my way more.. my classification of a ratrod is different engine, body, frame, etc. im just fixing things to either work better, cost less, or be more my style. i was always fond of stacks, so i have a truck with a stack now. and yes, there are provisions for condensation. HanksB3B Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 at least tell me what your dogs' name and I'll forget about you throwing out your running boards. Hank Quote
MBF Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I'd recommend some type of heat shield too just to avoid the possibility of someone accidentily leaning or falling against a hot muffler/exhaust. With everybody being so sue crazy these days-why take a chance? Mike Quote
48Dodger Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Don't like the stack. I like the rugged look of the truck. Go with the glass pack, homemade running boards, and a big stereo. Then I would be happy. Or.....do what makes you happy, I guess. 48D Quote
41/53dodges Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 well, i will say, it looks a lot more rugged in real life, the pics do no justice. BTW-i still have the running boards, they just are beyond repair. the brown dog is lacy, the retreiver is jake. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I will gladly send you my shipping address so you can get that John Deere seat out of your way.. Quote
41/53dodges Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 if you pay for shipping and dont mind that its cracked, you can have it! this is the old one off my grandfather's tractor, we bought him a new one for father's day. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 dang!!!! a cracked one I have already...sad part is my Murray seat is about 19 years old and still soft and intact..that was a thoughtful gift..am sure he really appreciated the new one Quote
41/53dodges Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 indeed he did! $180 later... he wanted a new tractor, so he opened the box and said "where's the rest?" Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I never priced one through JD...saw a replacement at NT&Supply that was the same shape and colors without the decal..56.00..I have some yellow heavy vinyl..looks like it is time to get out the sewing machine...think about it, all you do is park your butt on it anyway..but they sure can suck up the rainwater if you forget and leave it outside.. Quote
41/53dodges Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 i myself am partial to the old *ss-shaped pan seats Quote
