Hello all, I’ve been lurking for a few months now just absorbing all the helpful information from this site. I recently picked up a 47 Chrysler Windsor to work on with my 2 sons. I like to say thanks to this site for the available tech section, for example removing a badly rusted water distribution tube. That saved us.

Anyway, here is a pic of our toy. She needs a few trims and a lot of cleaning and maintenance but we hope to have her on the road soon.

Nice looking car. I see you have a traditional parking stabilizer behind the front wheel. Should be standard equipment for fluid drive cars.

You should be able to have a brake shop put new friction material on your parking brake. Check for a place that does trucks and other comercial vehicles, construction equipment. Fairly easy job to remove it and get it relined.

Hi and welcome.

Nice looking old Chrysler.

Ask questions when they arise and someone will likely have some

knowledge.......as you've already seen.

I am amazed at the beautiful cars showing up on the forum lately. Your Chrysler is something else to see. Pure class. If it were mine, I don't think I would be able to leave the garage.

BTW, inquiring minds want to know, what is that dark shape hiding in the garage? Nosey? Yes.

Thats a great car. As for your safe wheel chock-keep using it. The brake band can be adjusted tight and correct and you someday you might hear a pop-(the e-brake handle ratchet pawl just let loose) and away rolls the car! I'd use a wheel chock for peace of mind as you are doing. I have replaced the ratchet pawl and rack in one of my Chrysler cars but still don't trust these e-brake ratcht handles 100%. Have seen a couple other cars that got away-not a pretty sight-lotsa broken potmetal!

Glad you joined in. A lot of good advice here too.

I looked at and drove several 47 and 48 Windsors before I bought my 50 Dodge. I loved those cars but in the end the ones I liked were more than my budget could afford. I can see why they hold their value well.

Thanks for the welcome guys… the next thing we’ll need to tackle will be the parking brake. It doesn’t do much of anything when the car is up the driveway. I’ve attached a pick showing the front a couple months ago when we had some snow. If you’ll notice I need to replace two of the bars on the grill, so if anyone has a lead, that would be appreciated. In the garage is our other project, a 30 Model A hotrod. We’ll continue on that one after making the Chrysler road worthy. These are nice big cars.

Nice car and welcome! My great grandpa had a 48 Windsor 4 door. All the years, my grandpa saved the underdash tissuse dispenser and clip-on-the-visor mirror/service record, and put them in the Plymouth when he got it, and I still have them there.
