adam_knox Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) I know there was an old map lurking somewhere on the forum, but couldn't find it. So thought a new one would be nice in order to see what Mopar enthusiasts are in your area. I choose mapservices.org as a hosting site so anyone can add their location without having to create an account or log in. Here's what you do: Step 1: Click here, P15D24 Mopar Forum Members Step 2: Type your address in the search bar (City, State will do, or whatever system your country has set up). Click "Search." Step 3. A box will appear to "pin" your location. Under "Name" put your forum id name Under "Message" you can leave your e-mail address (or other contact information. Optional, but is nice if someone from the forum wants to invite ya' over for a cookout!) Under "Image" you can, if you wish, upload a jpeg avatar image from your computer Finally, click the icon you would like to be used to tag your location. Step 4: Peruse around the globe and see where we all live! Let's see if we can guess how many people are gonna tag their location...I'm gonna go with 37. There's enough space for 500 tags. Let's see if we can break a hundred! Edited March 26, 2010 by adam_knox Quote
randroid Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Adam, I'm up for doing that but when I tried it I found myself going in a circle. I'll keep an eye on your post to see if anyone else has any trouble with it or maybe I'm just not bright enough, or both. -Randy Quote
randroid Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Adam, Got it, and now all I need to do is figure out how to modify my profile. LOL, this isn't a question; I got the profile wrong but I'll get it figured out. -Randy Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 why the mesage and icon requirement..there are no beared icons... Quote
adam_knox Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 Lol, sorry about the no beard option...guess you're gonna have to shave it off! The "message" portion isn't a requirement. I just thought having an e-mail addy there would be a quick way to send someone a message. BTW Robin, had no idea you do dance lessons! If only you were stateside! Although its a good thing for you, I lack total coordination. Once I was in a musical and they re-choreographed the dance routine to hide my not-so-fancy footwork! Thanks Bob and Randy for being the 12 am test group! So no guesses on the final tally? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 I tried to register on your map but I assure you I could not continue till I added both a message and an icon selected...thus I did not complete the registeration.. Quote
adam_knox Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 Sorry Tim, can't remove the "Message" portion its a standard that's built in to the basic map framework. You could try to just put a dash, "-" or "...", in that box to skip writing anything...As for the icon, well, I don't think anyone pays too much attention to 'em for accuracy; otherwise Randy has really aged beyond his years! Merle Coggins Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 It would be nice if this takes off and fills up. I also had to fill in the message space before it would post. I just added my truck info. Merle Quote
faucet47custom Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Got it set up, and noticed a few Georgia owners. Nice to know who to keep in touch with about shows and stuff in the area. Quote

adam_knox Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 Got it set up, and noticed a few Georgia owners. Nice to know who to keep in touch with about shows and stuff in the area. Yeah, I was hoping to use a different map service that allowed you to put "points of interest" and events, but then everyone would have to have an account to paste everything. If I get time eventually I'd like to add a cool "things to do" feature on the map for people who are road tripping and whatnot. BTW, soon there'll be one more Mopar in GA, started to pack things up this week. Gonna need lots of boxes... Quote
Troganin Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Nice map, I remember there was another that someone started. Could you import that data in yours? What happens if someone moves, can you move the marker? I may be relocating and don’t want to have multiple markers or one that is in the wrong spot. Would it be possible to send out a pm to everyone to notify them or get this a sticky so it doesn’t buried in the pages of posts and forgotten? Quote
blueskies Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Too bad the old frapper map went ****-up... There were about 500 pins on the map I started 6 or 8 years ago. I have the kml file saved from the map before it went down, if you want it. Maybe you can instantly populate your new map with everyone from the old map? Pete Quote
aero3113 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 How can we edit our info on the map? I put my email address as my link and would like to change it. Quote
LAKOTA169 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 This is strange. I just put in my zip (no address). And it put my icon ONE house off from mine. when you zoom in with the satellite view, you can see my car in the drive under the car cover. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 one house...I put in my zip..it is for our small community, the P.O. across the road from me..but ...the map pinpoints the zip with a 3 mile error..I would correct it but it appears there are no edit tools for the user... Quote
Furylee2 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 How can we edit our info on the map? I put my email address as my link and would like to change it. Or delete and entry? Somehow I ended up in Ludlow SD. I created a new entry in Papillion, NE (sorry Frank, my head is on top of yours), but I can't delete the one in SD. Lee Quote
faucet47custom Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Tim, I will be in Macon this weekend to visit my In-laws and go to the Cherry Blossom Festival. I am planning on taking the family to Panama City Beach next weekend. I'm gonna have to talk the misses into a detour to make it to the swap meet. Quote

Flatie46 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Spartanbilly has got me covered up on the map. I guess since were that close he'll have to come over to help me set the motor in mine when it comes time. Hint, Hint:D. Quote
adam_knox Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 For any new account you have an hour after you "pin" your location to change it; in case you accidentally "pin" your location to Antarctica (prior to this post that option was disabled). There's an option to export the map via KML to other programs, so if we can figure out how to get a community map going with points of interest and jazz like that I'm all about it. As for the old Frappr map there doesn't seem to be an import function option with myguestmaps.com. I would have gone with Frappr, but last night the site was down and had read reviews that lately has been kinda wonky on its accessibility. Thanks for making that map Pete, I couldn't find it and remember reading that it was sort of inactive. Marty, maybe its like the Price is Right, since I didn't bid over I'm still in the running for the Showcase Showdown...Oh look! Its a brand new... Quote

aero3113 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) LoL,been trying to figure that out also. What would happen if you enter your information in the same location? Will it overwrite what was there? Edited March 27, 2010 by aero3113 Quote
