Plymouthy Adams Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Will do if I can pull myself away from the beach, warm ocean water, cold beer, and chocolate covered macadamia nuts! other than the warm ocean water...heck we got all that here in Georgia right now... Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Falstaff was also a brewer in Fort Wayne, Indiana where I started high school. For a history trip follow this link.http://www.falstaffbrewing.com/interest.htm Wow. More than you ever wanted to know about Falstaff. I had no idea it hung on so long. Somehow I'd gotten the idea it was a New England beer. Probably because they had a brewery in Cranston, RI. I do know that we considered it one of the lousy beers, along with Haffenreffer, Schlitz, Schaefer, Blatz, Pabst, and a few others. Of course, that never stopped us from drinking it. There were lots of references to cats and weasels, if you know what I mean. Edited January 6, 2010 by Joe Flanagan Quote
dparksie Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Hey I liked Pabst Blue Ribbon. Past tense, we all have to change sometime.. Then again in those years pretty much "beer" was all the can had to say to be good enough.. Note I said change not grow up.:D Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Actually I later fell in love with Pabst. There was a grocery store that sold single longnecks. The kind you needed a bottle opener for. Good memories. Haffenreffer we used to call the Green Death. Blatz was aptly named because that's often what you wound up doing after drinking it. Schlitz rhymes with another word I can't type here. Quote
greg g Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 After little debate and small deliberation, we always voted aye for this local product. Second place was usually Quote
greg g Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Hey Ed, when we was kids, we didn't think it was really cold till you nose did freeze shut when you first stepped outside. I don't know at what temperature it occurs, but I have experienced it on more than one occasion. My wife relates a story about walking to class at her community college. This back when skirts were considered proper dress for young ladies on campus. She said she walked out took a few steps and felt a strange sensation on her legs, (besides the extreme cold) she looked down and say that her stockings (any one remember those) were spotaneously self destructing. RobertKB Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 other than the warm ocean water...heck we got all that here in Georgia right now... Tim, Tim, Tim........sorry but I just don't think Georgia can be Hawaii. Never been to Georgia, especially on a rainy night, (love that song) so I can't really compare but something tells me there is a difference. Furthest south I have been on the US east coast is Virginia. Sure liked it there though. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I know..just had to throw that out...am sure Hawaii would be nice about now...we are on our 4th morning in a row with temps in the teens..very uncommon for us...but you got to take into account that Georgia is the only place I recall at the moment where a person can swim in the vicinity of an H-Bomb....check it out, goggle it for good reading...Tybee Island.... Joe Flanagan Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 I would only do that if it is actually leaking radiation. Otherwise you don't get the full experience. Quote

I judge it really cold when the brake fluid in my brakes and hydralic clutch begins to thicken and makes the pedals feel different. Sounds like Friday I should get to experience that. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 What's happening on Friday? Double digits below zero in the land of a thousand lakes? Quote
Young Ed Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 13 below I believe is the forecasted high. brrrr Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Oh boy! Have fun in that. Doing anything outside? I should know better than to complain about temps in the 20s. There's always someone who can top you. We've actually got a little snow coming down here now. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 No I stay inside. So far this week my big outdoor project was shoveling out a spot for our new recycling bin and trash cart. I do hope to do some stereo installing this weekend but I'll be doing that in Dads wood heated garage. Quote
