Fred we did our entire cabin with one of those. And we were hanging 12ft 5/8s drywall on a vaulted ceiling. That thing worked so slick! Nicest part the hardware store we bought the drywall from lent us their lift for nothing as long as we bought the supplies from them. Thats small town service in action.

Fred,

Looks nice. Only one problem with putting drywall on the ceiling of the basement. You then cover up the pipes and the electrical junction boxes. When I did mine years ago I just did the walls and left the ceiling open. Actually, it's against the electrical code here to cover up electrical junction boxes anyway.

Hey Norm, no junction boxes, amnd only on small length of water pipes, so not overly concerned, all my cable and phones connections are accessible, as my electrical panel..........Fred

Looks really good, Fred. The lift looks very useful as well. When I had my garage drywalled in the mid 1980's, an older fellow came and did it. He was lifting 12' X 4' drywall sheet on his own and putting them on the ceiling. I have no idea how he did it, but do it he did. He had that place done in no time and two laters it was mudded and sanded and ready to paint. Tricks of the trade, I guess.

I worked the trade just recently..of the tricks..they are still somewhat unknown to me..I did construct and made use of a couple dead men...made my job easy..renting would have been out of the question as working as-you-can would make that beyond cost effective

I have been in the construction /remodel business for over 30 years, and have had to hang ceilings by myself more than a time or two. It didn't take but about 20 of those years to figure out a pretty good little way to do it on flat ceilings that aren't too big ( mainly where there are few, or no center pieces that don't touch the wall at the side, or end somewhere).....take a 2" by 4" and screw it to the wall leaving about 3/4" space between top of board and ceiling, put one edge of the rock up on the top of the board, and you only have to hold up and get fastened the outside edge, and it's easier than a guy might think. Get that one nailed, or screwed, move the board and go again. I used 4' x 8', 1'2" sheetrock, so not so bad that way, but still and all, sheetrock for one is a job any way you go about it. Joel

Hey all, well this basement rec room project is just about completed.

I still have to build a bar, install window coverings, decorate hang pictures, new TV and stand.

Now I can get back to more serious matters , like work on my 47.

Here are a few pics of the completed rec room project.

Oh, I'm just waiting for another valve. That's the only thing holding me up. It's hard to find the exact right valve. I'm tracking one I bought off e-bay and it should be here tomorrow. I'll probably finish it this weekend.

Ed, your right, I work for the largest employer in Canada, the Federal Governemnt, lay-offs unheard of, lot's of games with contract talks, though in tough economic times, last contract took 4 1/2 years to settle. PS we are never running short of clientele..........LOL

Thats what I was thinking Fred. The worse the economy gets the more people commit crimes. I didn't realize Canada was in the same boat we are.

I meant Canada is in with the bad economy. Not the criminal element.
