It does give one pause to wonder about quality, etc since Turkey is not

a hotbed of things automotive. At least as far as we know around here.

Would be interesting to know more about their parts manufacturing

industry. Maybe their stuff is OK.....or maybe not.

On ebay now you can find brake hoses from Argentina and wheel cylinders made in

China. (My new cylinders purchased at O'Reilly Auto came from China.) One seller

of U S made brake hoses says: Notice: Be very careful of brake hoses being sold on eBay

that are from Argentina. They are NOT D.O.T Approved for

use in the USA and could pose a risk to you and your vehicle.

Getting to be a real international smorgasboard of parts for our old cars.

Yesterday I bought brake pads for my wife's Subaru at NAPA. As part of my dealing with the counter guy, I asked if they were form China or Mexico. He said the sticker said made in USA. and the box say made for NAPA by a company in Louisiana. Interesting. After I installed the pads, I was going to pull of the sticker to keep the part number, (I have a bunch stuck to a cabinet in the garage.)

Under the stick on label, the lable printed on the box says Hecho en Mexico.

So what was made in the US the stick on lable, or did they have a coupe bajillion boxes printed up and now they are making the pads here and using old boxes?

Or is the sticker made in the USA???

Andy, i have bought a ton of stuff from him, no problems at all and his shipping is faster than here in the states. my last batch took 4 days and it was here! a lot of surplus parts went over there yeara ago.

Doc.....so why did surplus parts go there, and what sorts of parts? All those questions.

So, is he now selling us back those old parts??

You would have to ask the government! got the story some time back but did not pay to much attention to it so i don't recall all the specifics on it.

yep!

It could be the same as what happened here in Oz, the parts were made in the USA and when the cars were marketed and sold in Oz or Turkey or wherever a shipment of US made parts went with them........all I know is that these are 100% perfect and whilst I appreciate you guys wanting to support the home grown product, sometimes I think that the home grown product is still out there, just that its not at home any more.........regards, andyd

Chrysler did have a plant in Turkey many years ago that was building Fargo trucks. Maybe the parts/tools/infrastructure are a legacy of that.

I noticed in Europe that Chrysler products have a small trim stuck on the back that says "Made in Austria". They could be supplying parts too. I may try to buy a couple of those little insignias next month just for the fun of it. Theres a dealer in Budapest.
