radioguy7 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Since it's my birthday today I decided to take the day off and spend it working on the P-15. It's a gorgeous day out and what better way to spend it than working on old cars. Getting ready to pull the engine and transmission so hope I make some good progress today. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Happy B-day, and good luck with your daily fun. Merle Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Happy Birthday - hope you get everything done that you want to. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 I did the same thing. Decided to extend the holiday a little. I'm still fighting with this king pin plug. Hoping to get the car back on its wheels today! Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Norm, Are you going to call radioguy's boss and turn him in? Quote
Young Ed Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Norm neither of us mentioned calling in sick. I dont know how radioguy did it but I scheduled this day off as a vacation day. You are right though supposedly I wouldnt get paid for yesterday if I called in(I say supposedly because I've never tested them on it) Quote
radioguy7 Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Posted May 27, 2009 Nah' date=' but hopefully his boss doesn't read this forum. There is one thing about him and Young Ed taking the day off that puzzles me though. Usually, most companies will not pay you for the holiday if you take the day before, or the day after the holiday off (unless you take a vacation day).[/quote'] Uhh yeah, it was a planned vacation day, I didn't just call out. Are you always this miserable?? Quote
Normspeed Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I'd say, cantankerous, sure, persnickety perhaps, miserable no. Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 Happy B-Day Radioguy! Glad you were able to take off work and have a fun day yesterday. You deserved it. Quote
dezeldoc Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I'd say, cantankerous, sure, persnickety perhaps, miserable no. Grumpy? constipated? PMS? Quote
radioguy7 Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Posted May 27, 2009 Thanks everyone for the Birthday greetings, it was a very good day. I knocked off working on the P-15 early to catch an early showing of "Star Trek". Pretty good movie but not really true to the original series but was still entertaining and worth the $9. After my wife treated me to the chinese buffet next door where I got my fill of my favorite item, Crab Legs!! Still don't know how these buffet's that offer seafood make any money. I also had my share of steamed clams and shrimp. All in all it was a very good day. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Happy Birthday and what's better then working on your mopar and seeing "Star Trek" I saw it and like you I have mixed feelings. I took my brother and yes we talked though the movie laughing out loud:D at Scotty and Bones. Poor William Shatner nobody wants to play with him:mad: I hear he wanted to much money. Quote
radioguy7 Posted May 29, 2009 Author Report Posted May 29, 2009 Happy Birthday and what's better then working on your mopar and seeing "Star Trek" I saw it and like you I have mixed feelings. I took my brother and yes we talked though the movie laughing out loud:D at Scotty and Bones. Poor William Shatner nobody wants to play with him:mad: I hear he wanted to much money. Actually I heard Shatner got just plain shut out, they didn't want him in the movie. Rumors are that there was a squable with Nemoy and him and that Spock was more important for the story line. They could of easily added a segment at the end of the movie with Spock and Kirk reminiscing or something. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Even though the new movie did not follow the original story line well I thought it was very good. What I liked about the original TV series was that it more often than not followed the course of human nature to resolve issues and used very few special effects. Of course at the time the original was made special effects were in their infancy. Most movies today go way overboard on the computer-generated special effects. Shatner (still one of my favorite actors) has managed to alienate (intended pun) most of his old pals. I believe he declined to attend the recent wedding of Sulu even though he was invited. I am not sure of the name of the guy Sulu married. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 is this part of the "where no man has gone before" theme Quote
radioguy7 Posted May 29, 2009 Author Report Posted May 29, 2009 Yeah, I heard the same thing about shatner alienating his old pals from the series. I know they have stayed a tight nit group too with all the conventions they regularly tour. I'm sure it had something to do with it, maybe he got the message?? I still would of loved to see him with even a small part. My favorite Trek movie is still "Wrath of Kahn"!! Kaaaaaaaaahn, Kaaaaaaaahn!!! I'm such a nerd Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 My favorite is save the whales. It is great when the cast is walking the streets of SanFrancisco in costume but they look like normal SF street walkers. Shatner does a great facial expression tasting beer. A keyboard, how quaint Quote
realgonekatt Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Happy b-day radio guy. Mine was yesterday and I too spent the day working on "the other woman" And my sweetie bought me paint and dynamat!! Happy day man, happy day. 1)Star Wars was way better. 2) Shatner was alot cooler back in his twilight zone days (although that comercial with the old dodge van is pretty cool) Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Nobody picked up on Tim's "where no man has gone before" crack? THAT was funny. Reminds me of a joke about the Klingons but I will refrain. Quote

Captain Neon Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 I lost interest about the same time they added Star Trek: Voyager to the franchise. I very much enjoyed the new movie and given a choice between Nimoy or Shatner I'll take ol' Spock any day. Have always liked Scotty so I am glad to see his character back. My brother who is a "big picture" guy who hates symbolism and has no time for back-story, called me up after watching the new Star Trek movie to scream and complain at how a Star Trek movie couldn't have Shatner. I explained to him that a) Shatner doesn't play well w/ others and Nimoy was much more important, and that Kirk had been dead for over a hundred years when Spock got transported back in time. I was one of the few people that liked Enterprise, I suppose. I thought it was a shame that they ended that series prematurely. Have always like Scott Backula and am always interested in back-story. Just for the record, however, I prefer Star Wars, too. Any one surprised? Quote
