Hi,

This is my first time on the forum, I'm a new member. I am also computer illiterate, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right.

I have a '49 B1B that I have questions regarding the distributor cap. Can anyone help or send me instructions on how to post?

Thanks.

will a 1950 spitfire flat 6 fit in my 36 plymouth sedan. I would like to use the stock 3 speed that is in my car now. Do I need a different flywheel, clutch, engine mounts, etc. I know the chrysler engine is 2 inches longer, but that's easy to remedy. I would appreciate any help. thanks

First of all, you should start a new thread when you ask a question like this. You will get more and better answers that way.

Yes, a 1950 engine will fit in your '36. I have a '35 with a '57 engine in it. You can reuse the bellhousing, flywheel, motor mounts and clutch from your '36.

A spitfire should be the longer 6 that will fit with work but isnt a bolt in.

Ooops... My bad:o

I didn't realize we were talking about the larger Chrysler engine. Young Ed is correct, it can be done but it takes some work. I know Don Coatney put a long block engine in his car and it seams to me he had to make some modifications.

Heya,

I'm a new member, referred through the HAMB, where I go by the same name.

I'll be on here from time becasue I recently acquired a 48 Dodge Club Coupe that I have plans for making into a mild custom.

I'll have plenty of questions with issues I'm already having and with where to find certain parts.

Talk to you all soon :D

My 48 Dodge D-24 has a cracked exhaust manifold. I have determined that the engine is from a 54 Dodge. Two questions:

1.) I have obtained an NOS intake/exhaust manifold combo for a 48 engine. Will it fit this engine?

2.) I have removed all of the nuts & bolts that I can see (10) but the manifold will not budge. Are there more bolts hidden from view? The original shop manual is of no help at all in this matter.

Is there a wiring diagram available showing detail of single post 6v alternator? I am using the alternator taking off my model a when converted to 12v. I have new bracket and pulley made to adapt.

I installed a 6 volt + ground, 1 wire alternator on my '36 Plymouth. It works very well. Lights are nice and bright, can run lots of accessories simultaneously. I bought it already set up for 6 volt. As I understand it, the only difference is in the internal regulator ( solid state, can't see the circuit). It is a standard GM 10si with a special regulator. I bought it online from Quick Start. The people there are very helpful. You may even be able to buy the regulator as parts from them. Here is the link to their store: http://store.alternatorparts.com/alternators6voltpositiveground.aspx
