  1. Having completed a correct frame off restoration of a 1947 P-15 Special Deluxe, I have been dismayed I can't seem to locate a copper oil drain plug gasket. The only ones I find are non-metallic. Does anyone know where I could find one? Thank you, Larry
  2. Yes, I have the new gasket glued to the tranny. I installed a new soft plug in the one hole but the other shift rod hole had to be left open. I will be pulling it back out this weekend. Maybe I can find something.
  3. The transmission on this car leaks oil out of the front quite badly. I even have it underfilled by about 1". I put in new bearings that matched the old ones, new gaskets, & rear leather seal from a Ply. vendor. Even the rear seal leaks. I never had this problem with any of the ford or gm trannys I rebuilt. Any ideas anyone? And thank you in advance. Larry
  4. Sorry for the confusion. I was hoping to keep the original housing and just exchange the gear set. My brother had a 51 Cranbrook he swears he ran at 80 all the time (we were young & invinceable then). Maybe a bit later assembly would work if the wheels bolted on & the width was the same. Thank you.
  5. The differential in my 47 P-15 is a 4.10:1 by counting turns. Does anyone know of different ratios available or later years that would fit in the housing of the 47 P-15? Thank you.
  6. You will laugh, but here is what I did. I put the hinges in a large vise & pressed them together. Then I put them in my press to retighten the pins. The hood fits & opens & closes perfectly.
  7. I will try that. If it does line up better, any idea what the fix could be? Thank you.
  8. When closed, the hood on this car sticks out between 1-2" on each side at the rear of the hood. This happens with or without the hood brace installed. I have noticed when in the closed position, hood off the car, the bolt flange for the hood actually sticks out beyond the car too. Also, the hood brace has to be forced into place between the hinges, even with the hood off of the car. I had the hinges rebuilt, but that didn't help either. Does anyone know what may be the cause? Thank you.
  9. then please advise how to post. thank you
