windsor8 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Is there anyone else out there trying to hurry spring along? My buddy and I thought we would kick off the cruise season at the local Sonic this afternoon. We did, but not for long. It was a tad bit chilly here in southwestern Ohio. Quote
steveplym Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 It was about 65 here today. Been in the 60's all week, but now it is supposed to rain tomorrow. I might be able to get the car out and drive on Sunday, but it is only supposed to get up to 53. Quote
greg g Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. The rain has washed away most of the salt residue, and the road sweepers have cleaned the ditrius of winter from the shoulders. Might drag the car out rearrange the garage, wash the dust off and crank her up. Might could go for a ride, get some fresh gas, then tear the carbs apart to put in my new accelerator pumps. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 It was near 60 here in Michigan today so I took the 48 coupe to meet some other car guys for coffee. I was the only one with an old car. It started rihgt up and ran well after it warmed up. Then I drove it to the Post plant, they sell employees and us retirees breakfast cereal for $1 a box so at least we have something to eat. greg g Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Heck John, you could get a good little side business going. Last box of cheerois (yea I know another company) we bought was nearly 7 bucks. You could buy up a bunch of stuff, and mark it up 2 bucks and still save us half....... Marketing cost must be really high these days. Oats is 80 bucks a ton or 12 cents a lb. In the cherios box it's 7.25 a lb. nearly as expensive per ounce as tic tacs...... Quote
RobertKB Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Spring can not come soon enough here. At least you have green grass. Ours is ugly dirty brown with the last of the snow leaving. Enjoy your cars and put the heater on! Quote
1940plymouth Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 I had my Plymouth out on Thursday. I drove down to the school to spend lunch time with my wife, then I had it out again yesterday a couple of times. Hopefully again today before the rain Arrives later this evening. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Watch it!! Mother nature doesn't like to be rushed. We've had several nice days the past month to go for a ride. I did take the coupe out of the garage a couple of times. But..........I did something to my left shoulder back in late February and it's still bothering me. So........since it's hard to drive my modern car around with power steering, I haven't gone anywhere in the coupe without power steering. Shoulder is a lot better, but it still lets me know when I strain just a little with it. Hopefully, it will be better by the time it really gets nice. That said, we're supposed to get between 3 and 5" of snow overnight tonight. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 down here today would be an excellent day to take the car out "if it needs a bath" it is raining quite hard here since wee hours of the morning.. Quote
greg g Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Bob, I was in Croton on Hudson Wednesday. Looks like the Hudson Valley is about 2 weeks ahead of CNY. But is smells like spring. And when the sun is out it sure feels good. You have any plans regarding the Rhinebeck show 1st weekend in May?? Quote
1940plymouth Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Greg, At this time I plan on going to Rhinebeck on that Sunday and Norwich on Sunday also. I won't be bringing the Plymouth to either show. Bob Quote
1940plymouth Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 My Father came over this morning, so we fired up the Plymouth drove about ten miles to a friend's sugar shack. Visited for awhile then came home. Just a nice day to drive the Plymouth and hang out with family and friends. Life is Good:) Bob Quote
greg g Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 I got the buggy out and went to the gas station, then came home as I forgot my wallet. good excuse for another trip tomorrow. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 You guys have just got to rub it in with your nice weather. As mentioned before we were supposed to get between 3 and 5 inches of snow overnight. But.........they've canceled that warning. Now, we are supposed to get between 7 and 11 inches of snow with blizzard conditions tonight. Happy spring. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Here in BASTON, said with my best Boston accent, (they drive kas up here not cars) it was in the low 40's today. Went outside for lunch and the sun was shining with no wind. Left work late afternoon and the fog was rolling in and the temperature was dropping. Talked to Lisa at home in Tennessee and she tried to cut the grass today for the third time this year but it was too wet. Sitting outside of the Boston Fedreal Reserve Bank facing South Station on Summer Street, I spotted a 37 Caddy lemo twice this week. Looked to be pristine, stock and original. Quote
