Olddaddy Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 This guy looks like one of us, our kind of guy, probably has a Plymouth stashed somewhere............... http://www.oneofonehundred.co.uk/media/corkscrew.php Quote
greg g Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Being made in England, I would have thought it might have been steam powered...... Seems like a lot of frictional loss along the way. I bet if he has a vehicle its an old Thames Panel Delivery. Quote
knuckleharley Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Seems like a simple British solution to a common problem. We all know why it wasn't electrical. Quote
they_call_me_tred Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 i love the tedium in all the planning and the construction, that kind of stuff really gets my juices flowing. it makes me wanna go back to working on my robot sculpture... come to think of it, i'll be out in the garage if you need me. RobertKB Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 That is really fascinating. A great deal of creative energy went into that corkscrew. A Rube-Goldberg machine but with a purpose. In the beginning of the Video they mention the Eden Project. I have a cousin who lives about an hour away from it and when I was last in England in 2005, she took me to see it. Interesting to say the least! Quote
busycoupe Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 I think that would fit nicely into the trunk of my business coupe! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 actually I can see where the woman will stay in a romatic mood while you use this thing to uncork a nice wine for the evening...this may explain why England is heading toward a negative birth rate... Quote
52B3B108 Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 That was absolutely too cool!!! Just to have it as a sculpture would be enough for me. Quote
