Dennis_MN Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Hi I also ordered the cab panels for Quiet Ride last week. There was some confusion on what panels I would need but they were very helpful in getting the correct pieces for me. I have a 3 window cab. I would like to thank Merle for helping them and me out. They are good folks to work with and I would recommend them. I live in Bloomington MN and it is getting time to start working on the truck again. J Wuertz How about joining with several others at the Mopar in the Park car show down in Farmington (Dakota Cty fairgrounds) I plan on attending on Saturday and I think Dan from Rochester will as well. I haven't spoken to Don Bunn yet but he also lives in Bloomington and if he doesn't bring his truck he will at least make a showing. Dennis Sullivan Monticello, MN Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 I'm also still planning to come up for the Mopars in the Park. Maybe I'll get my registration in this week, and make hotel reservations. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Sounds like we might get quite the group. I may have to reconsider and show up too. Quote
Dennis_MN Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 This is hijacking a thread but what the heck.. Who has the Pilothouse Banners, tent, and other signage? Who is in charge of bringing a grill? This could be a midwest cookout Dennis Quote
Young Ed Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Dennis there is a picture of my truck bed earlier in this thread. Does it look like I should be hauling a grill Besides I don't have a pilothouse I might have to be the outcast of the group Quote

My bed is the orignal factory wood, 60 years old now and in great shape for the age. Call it a suvivor, but still able to haul a grill, if I had one. 2. Yes you are a Pilot House outcast but we don't mind. After all you are well connected so you should make a appearance. Dennis Quote
Young Ed Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 I actually hauled a couch in my truck for my sister once. Otherwise its been pretty much lawn chairs or luggage on a trip. What weekend is mopars? I'll pencil it in on my calendar. Quote

Merle Coggins Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 I've got a small portable gas grill that I could throw in the back. Sounds tempting Merle Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Well, I dug this thread back out to add my final pics. As stated earlier in this thread, the door panels that I got from Quite Rides had the flat top, which I believe is correct for B3's and B4's but not for B1's and 2's. So I offered to send them my original panels, which were in rough shape but still had their shape, if they could make me panels with the raised upper portion like the originals. Well, they were waiting at my door when I got home from work on Thursday. I got them painted on Friday and installed on Saturday. Now the major interior work is done. I still want to reupholster some original type door handles that I have to replace the ones that I am durrently using from Robert's Motor Parts. But other than that I think I'm done. A couple of weeks ago I also got my floor mat cut out and installed. It looks good, to me anyway, but I just realized that I didn't take any pictures of it. So, it's almost ready for Mopars in the Park. I even changed the oil on Saturday (those sock filters sure a tight fit @$#%&!). I also pulled out a couple of bed boards that have cracked at the glue seam. I will take them over to my friend, who helped me mill them, to get them glued back together. This time we'll use some biscuts for a stronger joint. Once I get them back in I should be ready. There's some other touchup I want to do, but it's not critical for now. 3 more weekends before the show, and one of them is tied up teaching motorcycle school. I'll see your Minnesota guys in a few weeks. Merle Quote
DanOlson Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Lookin Good Merle. After a couple of false starts on doing my own headliner, I decided to get the QuietRide headliner kit. I'm still waiting on it and hopefully it will be here in time. I bought a few rolls of insulation from Yogi's and spent yesterday gluing it to the roof and around the back window. If you want to sell the flat top door panels, bring them with to Mopars in the Park. I have mine done with the same pleated fabric as the seat but I'm not overjoyed with them. Dan Quote
smallblockjunkie Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 the truck looks great. you have done a very nice job on it Quote

I'll see your Minnesota guys in a few weeks. Merle Merle, I'm getting ready to insulate my interior and I was wondering if you used the Acoustic Kit from QuietRide to insulate your cab? It looks like a nice package, although a little spendy ($462). Just wondering what you think about it. Thanks, Eric Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Well I'm sure glad to know there are new interior pieces avail. as I tried glueing some black pleather to mine and it looked alright the night we did it, but by the next day it started to seperate the cardboard and by the time I went to install, the spray glue had destroyed it all. I went with 1/8" oak venier(sp) for now and I actually like it a lot, but looking through the pics I now see how the kick panels are supposed to be...oh well....happy for a little while.. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 Yes, I used everything from Quiet Ride. They will provide DynaMat strips with a map as to where to place them. Then the insulation gets glued down over everything. If you read through this thread you'll see how I had to cut up the floor insulation pieces in order to keep the pieces removable. It is pricey, but it was all good stuff and the people at Quiet Ride are great to work with if you have any problems. Merle Quote
Monkey Truck Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Thanks Merle for your input. I looked at the website and the product looks pretty good, glad to hear that you used it and like it. I noticed in the earlier part in this tread that you might have had a little trouble with the interior panels fitting properly? Sounds like you might have worked those bugs out with them. Did you get your seat cover from them too? Looks like the color matches the panels pretty good in your pictures. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 Seat cover came from Roberts Motor Parts. The ABS panels from Quiet Ride are black. I painted them brown with Krylon Fusion paint. Quote
Monkey Truck Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Oh ok, I was just reading that in one of your earlier posts. Looks like the paint worked pretty good. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 The paint stayed tacky on the edge trim for a l o n g time, but it eventually cured and has been fine since. Quote
Monkey Truck Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Do you feel like QuietRide's panels are better than Roberts? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 I don't have any experience with the Roberts panels, but what I've seen confirms what I've heard. They look good when installed but will warp and sag fairly quickly when it gets humid. They are more like the originals, a cardboard type material. Merle Quote
John-T-53 Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) Looks like the Q-Ride panels have a smooth finish to them, like vinyl - at least from your pics - is that the case? Did they come with the edging? I installed their ABS firewall pad in my truck, and it has a coarse grain vinyl-like surface. It was a b*** to put in, but looks great and should last a lifetime. I'm not sure that pattern would look right on the doors. However I like the idea of ABS better than cardboard, for longevity sake. I think the Roberts cardboard version is also very expensive. And if you had to pay their state taxes, forget it. I was also very happy with Q-ride's insulation kit. I just did the floors for now. However, due to cost, I'm searching for the same type of materials in bulk and want to generate my own insulation kit for the rest of the cab. Greybeard (Dave) mentioned somewhere in another thread to use bituthene (the self stick black roofing membrane type sealant) which I think is an excellent idea for sound deadenin'. What about the foil-backed jute insulation...anybody have any ideas where to aquire that stuff in bulk? Edited August 12, 2010 by John-T-53 1 Quote
dontknowitall Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Merle, Great looking inside! Cant wait untill mine is ready for that! Quote
