Heck Pat, you guys in Calgary never keep the same snow very long anyways, Chinooks usually melt what you get then you get more, but this goes on to July.............LOL In the Winnipeg area, the ground is covered with snow, but here in the country the fields are still pretty bare, snow is about ankle deep. But man is it cold here today, it was about 10 farenheit, damp with a northwest wind, we pay for it during the winter, but come summer we have nice hot weather, while you Calgarians could entertain a late snow or frost out of the mountains, again LOL PS the local Tim Hortons in Selkirk Manitoba is a nightmare, heck you can't get in the lotnevermind get out of it. But the coffee is so fine, Tim , you would like Tim Horton's coffee Quote

June July August and Sept are pretty safe, but outside of that, all bets are off. I was in Winnipeg in the early 70's. Growing up in Calgary I thought I knew what winter was. I was wrong!! Never been so cold in my life...before or since... Most Timmy's here are lined up out the door 90% of the time too I hate lineups more than I like Tim's coffee, so I pass sometimes. There is one very busy one that has a drive thru that literally flies! You don't hardly even slow down in that DT, but it's not close to home Quote

RobertKB Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 That ad reminds me of my first car (1958 Pontiac) and 1967. We had a huge snowstorm and my car was stuck out front of my parents' house. I had it in first gear and only had the wheels spin. Got out of the car leaving it running in first and pushed on the door frame with the door open. Worked like a damn with only one problem. When the car started moving, I slipped pushing the door shut, and the car took off down the hill at the end of the road. I chased it but could not catch it in time but it finally ran into a huge snowdrift and stopped. No damage done except to my pride and the car was stuck worse than ever. Had to get a shovel and spend about an hour digging the car out which is what I should have done in the first place. Live and learn! Wish I still had that car. Quote

When it snowed and I got stuck, I did similar to Robert.....put the car in low gear, pulled the throttle out a bit to get the wheels spinning slowly, then opened the door and pushed. When it got to moving, hopped in and tried to keep rolling. Fortunately, that worked most every time. Quote

My issue hasn't arrived yet so I don't know for sure. I was still living in Colorado when I wrote it. Quote
