Merle Coggins Posted October 29, 2008 Report Share Posted October 29, 2008 I used a similar "C" clamp type spring compressor. Don, they work the same way as it would on an over head valve engine. With the head removed, set one end on the valve head and the other end around the valve spring keeper, flip the handle to compress the spring, remove the keeper locks, release the handle, and remove the tool. The one I used is a larger one, used on large diesel engines, but it still worked on my flattie. A smaller automotive one may have been easier, as the large one was a bit cumbersome at times.
